The phrase "every single" in those days could have meant "every single one" or "each and every" one of the guys. That would not have excluded married ones. Just a thought

I knew Sue, even danced with her once. It was not "every single guy" only "every" guy she met. BTW, she liked to grind when slow dancing.

Excellent story! Now I'll be singing that all day!

I think back then, it was probably single guys, as most people had scruples..
BUT, I could be wrong.

It WAS the fifties! Probably wouldn't have gotten Radio Play (or it would have cost more) if it implied otherwise. Remember the Twin Beds on TV and tha Movies????

Repressed,

Single in this case might not mean unmarried.
Ever use the phrase "every single one" meaning ALL inclusive?

I think you’re right...it meant “every guy”
but I hear I think the word fit the melody regardless of the context.

I agree...it meant “every guy” but musically, the lyrics needed a word.

There is little doubt that Sue did every guy.

Haha. To me "every single guy" and "every guy" are completely interchangeable.
Every single guy is just more emphatic.
