Hi all, goods great to be part of this wonderful place. I am wondering who has experience with the mentioned camera and how do you like it? I have had this ZOOMER WOW camera since just after X-mas 2019 and I love it. Any thoughts or??????

First thought was this is the question you ask before the purchase. I don't have one but have read that people really like them.

Ya, that sounds about right. I love mine so far and will send some pics pretty soon. I'm still getting used to the new features and the sick ass zoom. Thanks for your reply.

The link I am posting is a photographer from the Ottawa, Ontario area she is an outstanding photographer and as you can see in the link started out in Micro 4/3 and has progressed up thru the Point and Shoot cameras. She is very approachable and I have talked to her numerous times thru the Ontario Birds facebook group. Enjoy her work thru this link and I am sure if you reached out to her she can answer a lot of questions on this camera.

Depends on what quality photos you expect from the camera. It's basically a $1,000 point and shoot camera with a cell phone size sensor. Zoom to 3000, well kinda. You are basically cropping the hell out of the picture so you get lots of noise. This video kind of summarizes the strengths and weaknesses.

I have one and the zoom is great to see what is way out there. however I you have to hold the camera as still as possible to get good shots. I have noticed that many of the photos seem to be soft. although many of the photos are fairly good it just how you hold the camera. I use a bean bag out of the car window and I get a few nice photos but generally they come back soft. it may be that I am shooting in lower light first thing in the morning. the range is really great no doubt but hold it firm to get the best out of it. lastly their is a lot of noise above ISO 1000, but light room can take care it. all in all it is an OK camera for personal use but to submit to a stock agency there would be many photos rejected.

It has a 125x optical zoom. Not digital zoom!

Hey BigMike, I can feel your excitement! I had the Canon SX50 for several years and greatly enjoyed the ability to photograph distant eagles feeding their young, white pelicans playing king of the mountain with a rock in the river, bighorn sheep babies cavorting on steep cliffsides and fawns gamboling among flowers

The suggestions for steadying the camera are good; I found that at the end of my four-year run with the sx50 I was far less stable with my own stance and the image quality suffered.

As far as softness in general, at the longest focal length that's to be expected - again, as mentioned it has to do with small sensor size and the fact that you're getting a limited field of view compared to full-frame cameras.

But field of view is only meaningful when comparing quality to very heavy, very expensive gear and is a silly discussion IMO. You have chosen this camera and you like it! That's the point.

If you haven't had the opportunity yet to discover all of UHH's specialty forums, scroll to "all sections" at the bottom of this page. There is a relatively new bridge camera group among others that may interest you. The majority of folks hang out in main discussion and Photo Gallery, but the small volunteer-moderated forums have value in different ways. All the best!

The 125x means the same thing as "equivalent to 3,000 mm field of view in full frame cameras." Discussion of equivalency usually causes 20 pages of arguments here on UHH. Whatever camera a person has, they should just practice getting the best they can and stop doing math in their head. When they're no longer satisfied, move up. Or not

"Optical zoom" is done with a lens, just like a DSLR.
That is good.

Equipment snob? We are not all professionals, we can't all afford thousands of dollars for DSLR and lenses, filters, etc. We just like the art of photography, being out taking pictures, and expressing ourselves as best we can.

Does the P1000 hold the current record of having the highest zoom range?
