It is with some real sadness that I report that Steve Perry has decided to discontinue his periodic podcast. Apparently some bitched and moaned about the format and the presentations in general. To my way of thinking, these are the same kinds of people who would bitch and moan if they were hanged with a new rope. If they didn't like the podcasts, they didn't have to participate. Instead, they spoil it for the rest of us. I know Steve is a much-respected hedgehogger--and I enjoy his posts and responses here as well. Sorry to vent and rant a bit, but I'm just sorry to lose one means of education that I truly appreciated and looked forward to hearing. I'll watch for Steve's advice wherever I can get it.

I, too, am sorry his podcasts are ending. I do learn from the information he shares and I look forward to his videos and newsletters.

I like when Steve shares his experince and knowledge.
Steve, if you’re reading this thread, pleas reconsider. Just ignore the idiots who aren’t happy unless they can be unhappy about something. They are the losers. Hang in there. Your expertise is much appreciated on UHH. Thanks for your contributions.

Steve Perry made the decision not some disgruntled viewers. Your focus is skewed.
I listened to the first podcast and found it wasn't for me. So, I stopped listening. Somehow talking about photography is OK, but Steve's books and videos that include visuals are so much better.
I hope there was more to Steve's decision than just a few disgruntled listeners. Possibly that was combined with not enough folks showing their support. How many folks emailed him, before or after this announcement, to express they were in favor of the podcast?

Odd. There are a lot of podcasters out there. Some of them I do not enjoy. I do not bitch about them. I simply do not watch them.
I have occasionally tuned into Steve's work and have gained much. Sad to see him stop.

Comment here:
https://backcountrygallery.com/goodbye-no-shot-d6-dilemma-its-you/#commentsI would not care to listen either; I simply prefer the written word.
And yes, he mentioned low numbers of listeners.
Thanks for the kind words everyone :)
The thing is, between low engagement numbers, the negative e-mails, confusion, and honestly - the unsettling numbers of people un-subbing from my newsletter everytime I sent out a podcast update - it just wasn't worth it to me. It actually takes a lot more time to come up with these than their 20 minute average time would indicate, and it seemed to be a losing proposition. Ironically, I think this may be the first time anyone has actually even mentioned one of the podcasts outside of my site. Lack of shares = lack of growth.
I've owned internet-based businesses for over 20 years now - before I was able to to wildlife photography / education full time. In the time, I've become fairly good at spotting a bad idea - I figured ultimately that my time would be better spent on other projects / videos / articles. When you realize you're making a mistake, I've found it best to stop making the mistake (many don't) and move on.
Again, thank you for your support.
Thanks for the explanation, Steve -- you're the best judge of how best to use your time. I find your eBooks to be excellent!
