I love your picture. I have been able to see Wood Storks building nests at the Rookery in St. Augustine. Generally, my photos to not have the head as "light" as yours is. Were you using your "manual mode" when shooting this? I have always used shutter priority, but I'm now getting used to the manual mode. I plan on going to FL once again, and I hope to have success in getting photos of what I call: "My FL Birds".
Thank you and this was taken at the Alligator Farm. I think the head is lighter because the sun was directly hitting it.
Almost 100% of the time I not shoot in manual. More than likely this would have been 2,000 or 3,000 of a second, f5.6 and auto ISO with spot exposure. I usually use my Nikon D500.
I love Wisconsin - had a place in Door County and office in northern Illinois and Lake Geneva.
