Does anyone own the Canon Telephoto EF 300mm f/4.0L IS Image Stabilizer USM Autofocus lens? I need more reach then my Canon 24-105 l IS. I am also looking an the Canon 100-400 zoom. I think the prime would be sharper and on my Canon 50D the lens would max out to 480mm.

I have the 300 2.8, 70-200 2.8 and 100-400 4.5.
They all do a great job with my 50D even with an extender. The AF doesn't work on the 100-400 with an extender unless using LiveView.

Here is a pic taken by my wife with a 100-400 last spring.

My 100-400 is tack sharp and is my most used lens for wildlife.

I own an canon EF 70-300mm f4-5.6is USM Image Stabilizer and have taken excellent sharp focus photos from my car on outside scenery such as winter trees frosted in below freezing weather and shot the whole tree as well as close up of the bark and parts of branches of same tree. Great lens for various conditions. Good Luck to ya.
