Wasn’t there a similar thread recently where someone noted that these things were intentionally written to be somewhat obvious frauds, so that anybody who DID reply self-identified as stupid enough to be conned?

I have received similar scam emails from Nigeria. Only difference, is they requested I send money, to process the paperwork. And then, and only then, will the send me my monetary reward.

Are you telling me that this whole deal is phony and I'm not going to get any money?

Yes, this is a scam, but, if you are interested in making a small investment to earn substantial future income, I do have holdings in a well traveled toll bridge for sale.

The sad thing is that people are duped into believing these scams. I got a scam phone call, just recently, stating there was an arrest warrant issued in my name, because I had not paid sufficient federal income tax last year. And, that I can pay via credit card. I just hung up my phone.

This particular scam couldn't be more obvious, not to mention humorous. Some of the more subtle scams try to con you based on recent personal events.

Last year I bought a new used vehicle. It is a Chevy SUV that was driven by a Chevy sales rep from car show to car show. When she was done making the car show circuit, the vehicle was sold to the dealership I bought it from. It's a really nice vehicle. Loaded with all kind of electronic goodies and Chevy's top of the line sound and navigation systems, and things that I don't yet know what they do. I got it for a really good price and they even gave me more on my trade in, a 2017 Cruze Premier, that was as clean as the day it was driven off the show room floor.

Anyway, a few months after purchasing the vehicle, the scam offers began arriving in the mail. The most recent one was trying to inform me that the cost of the extended warrant I purchased had gone up and they needed my information so they could bill me accordingly. Just one of several scam offers I've received since buying the vehicle. Problem is, none of the scam offers mention the year, make of model of the vehicle. You'd think if they were trying to contact me about my vehicle, they'd have a clue of what the vehicle is.

I guess the idiots trying to scam you don't know the IRS never calls people on the phone.

Scammers, they are everywhere. So, a person dies with his family in an accident leaving a fortune behind and a bank administrator is capable of managing those funds? Please, give me a break.
We all know that it will be necessary to present a estate planning for the final disposition of those funds, at least that is the law in this country.

I wonder what they will do next!

I got a similar call a few days ago, saying they were going to come and arrest me. I told them to come on, and I would be waiting for them with my AK47. They hung up.

WHAT? He wants 60% but you will be the legal heir? That's just BS - who do you talk to?

I know that I have strangers contacting me all the time offering vast sums of money, I guess just because I am one hell of a guy.
