Photos come out so much nicer on a sunny day with blue skies. Still, there is really no choice about the weather (or what birds are present ) and you have to take chances on cloudy, gray days.
Blue skies, no worries. Great Egrets up in trees are always fun.

Black-necked Stilts, very gray day.

Bufflehead, a small diving duck that is almost always too far off for me to catch. I like the reflections in the first and second shot.

From a distance the heads look plain black. The camera captures the nice colors.

Very nice shots Katy. Despite the gray day I like the contrast you got with the black-necked stilts. The snow geese shot was a favorite too...

Always nice to hear from you, Ken.
Another good set, Katy! I agree with Don, the stilts really catch my attention.
These are all excellent, Katydid! Great job on the Great White shots and the Stilts are super.

Thanks so much for looking, Carol. Glad you liked them.
Excellent series, I love it.
I find shooting white, or black and white, birds easier on cloudy days. Notice on the stilts the even lighting without shadows. Sometimes I end up increasing my exposure or tweeking my white balance. Nice pictures, with the BN Stilts my favorite.
