Wow! I can’t believe I drove up the Moki Dugway 40 years ago when I was a “lone eagle” photographer. I miss those days. Your photos brought back a lot of great memories as this is my favorite part of the U. S.

Last year, I finally got to show this area to my wife of 35 years. Now that I’m in my seventies and I am married to a great but somewhat unadventurous wife, I decided to take the “safer” route through Bluff instead of the Dugway this time around.😢

Our only adventure was that we slept in a hogan across the highway from Monument Valley.

It is good to get back to that place I love again and again. I like the way you got up close to the Mexican Hat so that it really shows up well. May friend had her first teaching job in the town of Mexican Hat. I appreciate the way you have been taking me back to my old haunts.

As we headed out from Mexican Hat, Utah on our way home. That was the truth too...although there is a 3 mile stretch of a steep, dirt road section that scales the side of a cliff. This section is known as Moki Dugway and leads up to the scenic Muley Point when you crest the cliff. From the Muley Point vista you can see the Valley of the Gods directly below, and south/southwest to Mexican Hat and in the distance, Monument Valley. This fact doesn't impress her as she screeches and shudders all the way up! Most travelers avoid this route and instead take the alternate hwy. through Bluff and on up to Moab, etc.

Luckily, the snow had melted on this section although once on top there was snow all the 300 + miles to Salt Lake City.

That sounds like too much fun! I'd love to drive that road. And the views you got are outstanding!

Many thanks for your nice comments, AzPicLady. You should take time and get up there and do the drive...I'm gonna tell you you would truly love the experience firsthand!! And, there is so much scenic overload to take in around that area. Get a room in Bluff for a couple of nights and tell them I sent you!!

Thank you Flying Three, I appreciate you looking and commenting. We've done the Mogi Dugway drive many times and this particular spot is one of my favorites...always take several minutes to take it all in!!

A very nice set Jim. The downloads show great detail and that is one "drive real damn slow" looking road in #'s 2&5! I like your spirit and your wife's indulgence.
