Bland Winter Subjects
I too get the "blahs" in Winter, so I move my photography indoors, with an objective to try something new at least once a week, either shooting or processing (or both). I have built still life subjects, using circular polarizer filter to create interesting color changes and today: multiple exposure shooting. I also make myself get out for a walk every day.

Grahame, yours is a really good idea, but, no, I haven't to take up a project. Really good idea in that it also just gets one to move.
Hcmcdole, I have a number of parks, some near at hand. I "mine' them often, but sometimes they seem to become repetitious shots. You are right to continue exploring them. Differences can be its own topic.
Ms. Krack, thanks. I try these, but so often they fall short of my hopes. Your point that I continue to explore these opportunities is useful. Thank you.
Mborn and Camerapapi. thank you for responding. For me photographing as seeing and seeing with an aesthetic intent is the purpose of what I hope for. I will pursue your recommendations. Thank you for the references.
Good shot, Jaymatt. To your point I suspect that sometimes I limit myself too much; a sircumstance that I will have to correct. It is head thing I am sure with me.
Thanks for the response, Billnikon. While I like the first image better, that is not the point, as I see it, is to use the different weather as a counterpoint to the image that you had previously shot. That idea is very useful. It seems to be almost a matter of re-envisioning the subject.
Mizzee, my BW "vision" always needs work, and when I do work on that style it is always a pp conversion. I suspect you were not especially enthused with my shot at Tracy Park. That really is ok. It was an example of something I did find on a January day. Also, I felt the conversion suited the subject better than the original. I am guessing that you mean for me to shoot BW in the camera to get my to develop those skills That suggestion is a worthy idea; though it does set aside somewhat the problem part of subject matter. I will try. I hope I didn't misconstrue your intent.
Linda, you are right. This post has become very dense with ideas. So many of them are worthy. of pursuing. I have enough now to keep me busy and challenged well into spring. Thanks again to all who have been so helpful.
Mark, Thanks. I have thought about still life but I just haven't generated the will. Your discipline is dmirable.

I have the same problem the doldrums during my California summers. Nothing but brown... I turn to street and candid photography especially the ladies.
I switch to B&W in the winter.
Go to a dog park, a botanical garden, a zoo, a museum, an aquarium, hire a model or two, travel to beautiful places. Use your imagination. Read photo books by people who've been there, done that. Get inspired.
Since I live in Southern California there are several places that have interesting scenes winter or summer. There are even blooming flowers imported from the southern hemisphere. It is also a good time to get details of common objects. For example: fences, doors, windows, manhole covers, interior lights, etc.
