Have one. A really nice lens and an "inexpensive" way to round out your "trinity" of lenses . It will also take slip-in gels on the rear. In addition to using it as a UW zoom for my FF, I will frequently use it as my "walk-around" on an APSc camera - where it is sorta like a 28-65 - and *much* sharper than the 18-135 (28-205 equivilant) "kit" lenses.
(Note: the EW83M lens hood from the 24-70ƒ4 is a good replacement for the EW83E.)

I'm surprised you have not received more posts here. I, too, have one of these lenses, and it is wonderful. In fact, I have it sitting, attacked to my second body of 5D-II, so that I can capture our pugs in unique positions. I think everyone would love it.

I'm shocked as well. Not a peep! Christmas takes dollars away for sure! I felt that was a fair price on everything I have listed, since all is in like new condition. Oh well, will be listing this on Fred Miranda as well. Thanks for the kind words!

That is exactly why I'm looking for a quality lens like this or the 16-35! But I've shied away from this non-IS model because I'm worried about getting stable shots using my EOS R in both those Canyons in early March. Do you not usually set up on a tripod when you use this camera? If you carried it into Antelope U & L, perhaps it was before they outlawed tripods or even monopods?

As of this year, they do not even conduct ANY photo tours anymore. Photographers go in with the crowds, no special considerations.

Compelled by this photoshoot plan, I've finally decided I really do need to get something in this zoom range. I'm getting close to pulling the trigger on an expensive used Canon EF 16-35mm f/4 L IS USM, although the non-IS f/4 is a lot cheaper.

I'm not overly shaky, but I am 76. Have any advice for me Photolady2014? Or anyone else?

Do you have good results handheld?

Two things here I'd like to respond to --

First, and most importantly, the OP should *re-post* the ad for the lens. Only the few of us were in any way making any comment or viewing these follow up posts.

Secondly, to whisdn - I've use the EFs 10-22 -virtually the same lens but for "crop"s - down to 1/10th second without much problem. Good technique - breathe in breathe out half-way and squeeze the trigger er shutter release, while holding as still as possible. Works well.

But - I'd re-post the for sale ...

The ad is back up on page one, so not sure what you are asking. I don't live and breath on here, but try to monitor as much as possible. Normally, if someone is interested and wants questions answered, like me, I PM them. Sorry, don't mean to sound off!
I have shot with this lens and you don't need IS to take a great shot and no I don't use a tripod. The only time I even consider a tripod is when I was shooting motocross with my 300 f2.8, as it is heavy! Hope this helps!

To be clear, I don't mean to be capturing this ad thread. People willing to give me advice may certainly PM me instead of adding to Lemonsqueezer's post here, if that's more appropriate.

I'd definitely like to purchase this lens at this price. First, I need a bit of confidence that I'll come away from my only visit to these 2 canyons with some images of which I'll be proud. I appreciate your comments here in that regard. I'm a shooter "of the other type" too (though less frequently so with my increased focus on shutter shooting), and I know what you mean.

That IS helpful. Pun intended. Thank you.

And I agree regarding the telephoto range. I'll shoot my long range lenses without a tripod often, but I have none without IS, and I know stabilization is working.

Don't be afraid to ask questions Whisdn, even on my ad. It helps everyone looking to purchase a new to them product. I will post a few photos that I just took while at Bird n Hand and without photoshop or whatever. Hand held all the shots!
