We are going on the Pride of America cruise ship doing the islands of Hawaii.....some friends of ours just came back from the same cruise and they told me that there was a sign as your board the ship "No Drone's on the Ship"......Needless to say I am a little PO.........Does anyone know what Islands allow drones......one of our excursions told me to 'yes' bring your drone......Has anyone ran into this before .....if so what did you do....any suggestions.
Thanks

MSC will confiscate and not return any drone on board! It’s in the same category as pocket knives and firearms.

Can you image what it would be like if you turned up at a beauty spot and everyone was flying drones!! People flying drones are solely thinking about themselves. They have no respect for other people who find it annoying to have a drone buzzing around overhead when they are trying to enjoy their holiday. I am sure this will prompt some negative press, but just think about how others may feel when your drone is buzzing around them.

You nailed it 100%.
Drone owners by and large are narcissists who have NO respect for others privacy, peace and enjoyment of the outdoors. They insist they have as much right to do whatever they want regardless of how annoying and at times dangerous their narcissism is to the larger population.

Better be careful. A LOT of people feel the same way about people taking DSLR's on vacation, and how people that use them are narcissists. I also know and have to work with several architects, and frankly, I feel the same way about them. It's all in your point of view. Doesn't make you or me correct, but you sure seem to be the one who thinks he knows all the answers.

My DSLR does not buzz over and around someone's head or spy on them overhead. My DSLR does not create a life safety issue to others like a stupid drone and operator do.
PS you have NO control over winds or failures with the stupid drone.
My DSLR does not fall onto people or blow into them or fail in a way that endangers people.

Good for you, but I'm a licensed and insured drone operator, and I also don't buss around someone's head, nor spy on them. You are lumping all of us in one basket.

Don't get too excited, I also use my DSLR, shoot weddings, portraits, etc. I've had my DSLR on a cruise ship, and have had comments made about "who does that guy think he his with that expensive camera" At the time, I was using a second hand D200, that was worth less than my wife's point and shoot. It's all perception, just like your perception because you either heard of a jerk, or witnessed one personally. Seriously, how many times have you REALLY had someone buzzing around your head? First of all, flying directly over someone's head is illegal.

My point is that your opinion is an opinion, you also don't need to lump my professionalism in with someone that you may or may not have personally dealt with. Blanket statements are a huge part of what is wrong in forums.

I’ve encountered it more than once. If you are somewhere scenic it is very annoyingly have a drone buzzing around overhead. Perhaps you are one of the more considerate people who fly drones, but there are plenty who are not.

Maybe I am lumping you together in one basket, but I hear more complaints about "buzzing" (*) others and getting in the way of others about so-called drones than about any other way of taking photos .... which is amazing when you compare numbers of "drones" to other forms.

(*) I assume you meant "buzz" instead of the "buss" you did use in the first line.

Did a google search and seems Carnival and Royal Caribbean are the only 2 cruise lines that you can bring a drone on board that I found and must be stored in your room and cant be flown on board. You would have to look at any local restrictions on flying a drone.

It is not opinion.
But fact.

I've had drones buzzing over me while hiking in some pretty secluded places; very annoying when you are looking for quiet and solitude...

I took a Princess cruise and they won't even let you get on the ship with a drone. Another case of people abusing a privilege and ruining for everyone.

Or, despite any potential safety risk, maybe passengers who have spent thousands of dollars for their cruise just don't want to see or hear drones flying overhead. It's inconsiderate. When I first started to see them I found them fascinating. However, after the first dozen or so times in the last year they have become, for me, an annoyance. I have a heavily wooded property behind my house with a large koi pond. Nothing more annoying than seeing a drone buzzing over my property, or my neighbor's property, on a beautiful and tranquil summer weekend while I'm trying to relax. I think drone owners, even considerate ones, may not appreciate how those of us who are not into that hobby feel about the intrusion.

I'm sure they are great for taking photos, but at what cost to others? Annoyance is just the tip of the iceberg. Once one of them carelessly causes a fatal crash of a small propeller plane (and sooner or later that will happen), its will be adios for hobbyists. I can see a time when you will be required to have an operator's license and lots of liability insurance to fly one. They may be small, but they are still an aircraft with the potential of causing damage.

Try telling this to the narcissistic licensed owners of these banes of society.

The narcissistic licensed clowns do not care for others safety or personal enjoyment on a cruise. They just look to purposefully show off their toy in the most obnoxious manner possible.
They remind me of the mental midgets with the boom box cars that purposefully annoy people as they drive down the road trying to get attention.
