Youve probably read the same topic on here, over and over again. Well just joined the Canon fraternity by purchasing a new 650D so wanted to say hi and if anyone's got any tips for a newbie please feel free to assist :D
Just learn everything about the camera by reading the manual, shutter speed, apeture, iso ect. and snap away

Yup Yup, and take many many pictures, looking forward to seeing some of your shots
Hello and welcome to the forum!
Hi and welcome, shoot plenty and often, take camera everywhere...
Welcome to the UHH
No tips from me, Jay, but welcome.
amen to what the others said, and shoot, shoot, shoot. Practice gets you more comfortable with your camera.
Listen to what the others have said. When I first got serious about DSLR's I spent most of my time reading, surfing the internet for tutorials, buying new gadgets and a little time shooting. Didn't ever get much better until I stopped all the nonsense and just went out and shot 100 or more shots per day and looking at the Exif data to figure out what made an image better. Shoot, shoot, shoot! Once you learn your camera and see an improvement in your work, then read, watch, and buy.
I too welcome you to UHH and the wonderful pass time of digital photography - the best advice has already been given - digital photos are free after buying camera, cards & computer - they pay for themselves over and over in the pleasure of capturing what you see to share with others as well as revisit anytime.
Again "Welcome & Share When You Can"

Welcome to UHH. The best advice I can give you at this point is to read the owner's manual. If you find that you get stuck understanding the Canon owner's manual you might try David Busch's book on the Canon 650 it is more detailed than the owners manual.
I would also suggest you take your camera and go shoot and learn to shot in the manual mode as well as the other modes your camera supports.
