Coopers Hawk

We've had a hawk move into our yard over the past few weeks. Every time I even began to look at him he would fly. Then one day last week we saw him in a dogwood tree, behind a hundred branches. As we watched, he flew into the bottom of a Camelia bush, after a squirrel I was sure. I grabbed my camera and headed out to see if I could get a shot. In less than a minute, he perched on top of a birdhouse, empty handed. Because of that, I was quite sure he was a juvenile. I managed one pic before he flew. Enough for Merlin to ID him as a juvenile Coopers Hawk, my first. We have lots of hawks in the area, but my first pic of a Coopers.
Yesterday, getting ready for my nap after lunch, I spied him perched on a statue's head outside my bedroom window. I grabbed my camera and got a few pics, through tinted glass, bright afternoon light, using a 500mm lens at minimum focusing distance. Not ideal, but that was the lens on the camera at the time. Hoping for better conditions in the weeks ahead.

Well done. I don't have many hawks in my area. I would be happy to get these shops.
