Antarctica is awash in Humpback whales lazing along stuffing themselves with krill. They were everywhere in singles and groups of two or three swimming, diving, and blowing. Now whales are low riders in the water so good photos of them are not easy.
As they breach and blow they sometimes showcase their fluke as they dive again. Now a whale fluke is a really prize shot in Antarctica. It is my belief that one can never have too many fluke shots.
Most of my whale shots were taken from the ship as we lay at anchor or station keeping rather than from a zodiac. That is a good reason to take a 600mm even though you really don't need that much length from a zodiac or landing. Hope you enjoy the downloads.
Quite a show. thank you for sharing these wonderful photos
