So true. We've had 4 deaths in flooded creeks near Payson in about a month. Three were small children. It's so sad! Good advice and let's all be safe.

We did Arizona in March 2018. In addition to the Sonoran Desert Museum, there is the Titan II Missile Museum SW of Tucson, tour of about an hour. Sedona is a must, there is also a Red Jeep tour outfit with about a 2 hour really bouncy ride. We did a tour of the south rim, took all day. Also a bit (25 miles?) west of Sedona is the Verde Valley tourist railroad, about a 4 hour ride. We also did the Phoenix Nascar March race. Have fun. Greg.

I live in Tombstone and would say Bisbee has a medium to suit everyone, except, you mentioned limitations to physical abilities. Bisbee is a hike for even the fittest of us and would suggest holding out on some of the high desert area until you have recovered

You are mistaken. Check the National Park Service website. "The North Rim is closed for the season. It will re-open 15 May 2020"
Since the South Rim is about a thousand feet lower in elevation than the North Rim it gets considerably less snow. Yes travel may be iffy, but the South Rim is rarely closed and then only periodically, not seasonally.

Toroweep is on the North Rim and is open if you can get there. 55 or 60 miles of dirt road one way.

I have visited the south rim of the a Grand Canyon a number of times in January. Yes, it can be very cold, so that you need a heavy down jacket. (If you live in PA, you probably have one. ). Other times, we have just needed a sweater. Most times it’s in between those two extremes, but only once was a really really cold. IMO, it’s a great time to visit, as there are no crowds. You can drive down the west rim drive to see those viewing spots, whereas in the summer, you have to take a tram. And most importantly, the air is often clear and very crisp, much better than in the summer. And, yes, the north rim is closed.

There is so much it is hard to narrow down - Jerome is actually a really cool place - with lots of History.
But many of the more natural (grandeur) things to see - you can only get so close to as the roads will mar the beauty of the land. On the other hand you can drive down some of the county roads away from phoenix and see some amazing sites... just the Natural Beauty that is almost everywhere in Arizona _ lived there for a decade... the Sunrises and Sunsets can be amazing.

There are Safaris and Jeep Tours, Ballooning etc etc.... and they will off road you to some cool areas. But you know what your interests are subject wise.

Nobody has mentioned Jerome, a defunct mining town much like Bisbee (which certainly is cool) but is not nearly as far from Sedona - that would be a better place to check out given your plans.

Yes....I would definitely do Jerome from Sedona, Only been the once but would definitely do it again if I am fortunate enough to be in the area. Good luck, sounds like a great trip.........Need to get my Passport out again as based in UK.

The North rim and South rim are open year round, but weather can be a factor for either of them.

The North Rim is open from May 15 to October 15 each year due to winter conditions. After October 15, the North Rim is open for day use only until December 1 or the weather conditions close Highway 67. During the open season, the entrance station is open 24 hours.
