My guess here is that those that do not like Apple, have never owned their stock. Also, can you complain about the price of a Mac when some are paying $3-6K for a camera?

People who whine about Mac prices don’t understand what we are so willing to pay for. The hardware is THE LEAST of it.

Yes it is hard to put an exact price on arrogance !
So for your money you get -
Any designs errors won't get acknowledged or fixed.
Generally hardware that is about 2/3 the performance of equivalent PC.
Deliberate lying and deceitful behaviour like making your phone run slower when you change batteries.
Deceitful behaviour when you take something in for repair and you get told no it can't be fixed when it actually can (although not by them).
Frequently hardware that cannot be upgraded when it would have been so simple to have made it so.
An OS that won't let you do many operations that you can on a PC.
Horrendously expensive to buy and maintain.
And others.
Some Macs that seem to run forever so you keep using it. The performance dropoff over the years probably matches your own performance dropoff as you age thus preventing you from seeing that paint now drys faster.

Keep on believing that crap. Since 1986, I’ve owned and used three times as many PCs as Macs. I had twice to three times as many problems with PCs. Did you see the article about IBM and why they use a couple hundred thousand Macs?

Having used both PC’s and Apples extensively, I find PC’s usage cumbersome when compared to my iMacs, and I have never had a problem with a Mac.

My advice: buy a Mac and don’t look back. They cost more, but they are worth every penny.

I have many computer programmer friends that use both. They say depending on the usage Mac may be better, and on another use PC may be better. They all say that Mac's are overpriced, some of the newer Mac book Pro computers have bad keyboards that Apple won't replace even though they know its a problem. Repair prices are exorbitant. Personally I don't like doing business with a company that uses near slave labor to make their products and then turns around and charges 1000 times its cost to manufacture. To those who use it for photo editing I don't blame you for drinking the kool-aid as they work great for those things. However I can get by using a PC since my pictures are for my pleasure not for sale. This discussion has about the same amount of logic as which camera is best Cannon,Nikon, Sony, etc. whether DSLR is really dead or Mirrorless the only way to go. Or should you buy a Ford, Chevy, Toyota, Nissan, Tesla, etc. We each have different biases, if we could agree to disagree and not try to cram down the throats of people asking for advice but get opinions instead we would all be happier. Happy New Year

This polarization towards either Macs or PCs is seriously interesting. I have had a view for a long time that Mac users were people who couldn't hack the slightly greater intricacies of a PC. People who basically didn't have the brain power to use a PC (on which you can do far more things than you can on a Mac). These thoughts came about because I lost a number of PC customers over to Macs. And why I thought this was because most of these customers were people who were lacking in brainpower. I would explain something to them (when they still had the PC), they would nod their head sagely but I found on my next visit that they obviously hadn't understood anything I had told them. Then later I would find they had bought a Mac.
Unfortunately amongst my friends I have a few whose brainpower is not in doubt and they also prefer Macs.
So bottom line is that I now think it is something to do with the way a person thinks that makes some minds cotton on to the logic of a Mac whereas others handle a PC better. Left hemisphere brain verse right hemisphere brain or something. I would love to know what this difference is as would everybody in marketing. I do know that one of the differences is that a Mac user is usually more fervent in his/her defence of their Mac use so knowing this I have to confess to pushing their buttons occasionally and maybe this is one of the differences showing up in me.
My wife is a very good graphics designer (for 40 years) and she has been a PC user for all her design life where computers have been a part of it. She thinks Macs are so weird and would never change.
So what are the basic differences between a Mac and PC user ? Also interestingly is that preferring an iphone to all others does not show across the Mac v PC boundaries because a lot of PC users prefer using an iphone. Probably one of the main reasons why I prefer Android to iphone is Apples stance towards repairs and the cost of ownership. But that's me (and Louis Rossman although he makes his income because of Apples stance).

This thread really is seriously interesting. Most people are pretty good natured in these UHH discussions. But, I can’t help but notice a common thread with the comments from some people who are ‘pro PC’ denigrating those who use Apple computers. The opposite doesn’t seem to be true. I especially find the intelligence prejudice interesting. I admit that I can remember the day a decade or so ago that someone lost there Apple video adapter at a scientific meeting and finding a replacement took a few minutes. Now, I typically see Apple used for presentations at these same international venues. I dare say that those speaking and using Apple at the meetings that I attend have an IQ of at least 140-145. Many, much higher. No one speaking is below the top 5% of humanity for intelligence, guaranteed.

My engineering friends hate Apple, my graphics and marketing/advertising friends love Apple. Chrissybabe has a wife who makes her living doing graphic work with a PC. That makes her smarter or dumber than my friends doing the same with millions on the line on Madison Avenue? I don’t think so. I’m sure she is using the vehicle that she can do a great job with. She couldn’t compete in graphics/design over the years if she didn’t have both brains and talent. It is very competitive.

I use Apple to do basic computer work, PP photos and prepare lectures and speeches. For business, I use a PC. Both are sitting in my office right now. They are tools. Most of the time, it’s not the wand, it’s the magician. Both work well and I am willing to use what works best for me.

Actually apart from my claim that Apple is arrogant (but they are also) which of course is a subjective thing the rest is not crap as they happen to be easily proven facts as long as your mind is open. If it is not open (and this makes you a fanboy) then you won't see half of what is happening to you around the world.

I actually laughed at the irony of Chrissy’s comments. Priceless. Someone trash talks Apple users while calling out the company as “arrogant” and a creator of inferior products when Apple is valued 5 times larger than his very beautiful country’s 2018 GDP (World Bank). Apple has a greater yearly revenue than his entire country. Yep, priceless. As Chrissy said, this seriously is an amusing thread. I’ll have to look at chit chat again next time I’m blue.

Yeah well that may well be and if that's irony then who let Trump run the richest country in the world ? Note also that Apples income from computers is only 10.92 % of its total income. And in the last few years this percentage has been shrinking. Obviously quality has been going up as I also see that their services have been increasing.

The irony has nothing to do with New Zealand or the United States or really, even Apple. The irony comes from your Chutzpah Chrissy, in calling someone, anyone else arrogant (chutzpah meant in the more gentle, modern, business world definition). You have a passion about PC’s.

I find it interesting this thread is still running. I am like burkphoto, I have used both since 1988.
I still use both.
I like them both.
Apples are a complete packaged device.
Windows is just the OS which runs on anything from a cheap 2 dollar watch to the most expensive computers, which gives us the options of what you want to use. From my experience people who have problems with Windows based devices usually have a cheap ass puter.
I like the option to use whatever I wish to purchase.
Again I like them both and not a fan boy of either.

I would not have replied to this comment until you insulted our President.
It is people like me, a United States citizen who elected him.
Who are you in New Zealand to criticize him ?
Like him or not, history will reveal he is going down as one of the best we have ever had. It will not be seen in these days of total BS media outlets unless you have factual news sources.
Ok, deal with it.
Back to the APPLE issue,
look we all have choices, get what you like and respect the others. OK !

While I have no real need nor can I otherwise rationalize the purchase, I'm seriously thinking about a new 2019 Mac Pro with modest components because it would please me just to have it. I may even consider selling my 2013 6,1 and 2010-2012 5,1 Mac Pros... Although I've kept a couple of capable Windows 10 PC's for access to several PC specific business programs and data archives, I believe the Mac OS is superior and the right choice for my needs in retirement.

You can drive yourself crazy with Cinebench, Geekbench, and Blackmagic Disk Speed Test Utilities while constructing a specialized PC and still not have the most bad-assed computer on the block for long.

Of course, you could keep one of those old Mac Pros (2013) and install Windows 10 in Boot Camp or Parallels Desktop (or both), and use it as your PC when you add a new Mac Pro.

Check this out... https://youtu.be/OjYOAxCuuyc — iJustine reviews the new Mac Pro, almost fully tricked out with 28 cores, 384GB RAM, two top-end graphics cards, and 75TB storage array. She's doing 3D model rendering in the background while editing 6+ streams of 8K Red Raw video... no stutters!

(It's probably the ultimate in Mac user arrogance. iJustine is a YouTube icon of tech excess... and very successful at it.)
