Take a look at these from CowboyStudio (much the same, at less cost, I have one of theirs and have been using it for about 8 years, without any problems):

Just took delivery of the Impact background stands, easy set-up, well built kit, crossbar is smooth when extending to full length. The stands seem stable when cranked at an extension height of 7’-8’ holding a small roll (56” wide) of seamless. The 2 zippers on the bag are heavy duty, worked well out of the box and bag material seems well constructed. Again, just out of the box with a trial set-up. No issues that I’m seeing so far, I think it’s a great value B&H is offering. Glad I made the purchase. Hope this helps.
Couldn't tell from the ad but is it made out of 1" steel tubing or aluminum or ???
That's pretty cool. However, for a fraction of the cost, I made my own from PVC pipe and fittings.

Save yourself some frustration, buy a seamless grey paper. If you light it properly, you can get any color with gels. It also allows sweeps to be made effortlessly. I won't use muslin backgrounds anymore. I like clean wrinkle free surfaces.
Buy your seamless from B&H and make sure you spend over $50.00 from them. You will get free shipping. Normally seamless paper is considered a bulk item and they charge dearly for it. One competitor wants you to spend over $20.00 for shipping alone on a 86" width.
If you're interested in saving big money, this DIY from the Slanted Lens is epic to watch.

Sorry this reply may be a bit late, but I use that backdrop stand in my photo classes (I teach photo in a public HS) It works very well, easy to set up and take down the case/bag is great. I use it with 6' cloth back drops, I think an 8' paper roll would be too heavy. after a few years of use (in a high school it's more like abuse) it has held up well except one of the pins that hold the crossbar pulled out. I just taped it back and it works fine. It's definitely worth the reduced price.
Billnikon. I did look at the on-line reviews but wanted to hear from someone who actually has used them recently. I don't trust all the reviews on sale sights. Thanks for your comment.

Haydon thank you for the reply and your recommendation. I went with the Impact one due to it's construction.
