Try to contact Adobe again and use the Chat feature. They can take control of your computer and change settings as needed. I did this about a year and a half ago when Adobe did a major change to Photoshop and I couldn't load any of my raw images. They took control of my computer as I watched what they were doing and they downloaded the most current video drivers for my computer and installed them. Photoshop worked flawlessly after that.

Thanks, everyone for your suggestions. Attaching answers to some of your questions: latest update for windows will not install - long story; PS has always been installed on the C drive along with the OS - C is the fastest drive - SSD; I do have a graphics card - GTX 560 (I turned it off to see if it would make a difference, it didn't, so turned it back on); all other programs running fine & at speed;PS version 21.0.2 most current available; PC has 32 GB ram, intel cpu running @ 3.3 gigs; scratch disks are on 2 seperate internal drives ... D drive has 3.4 TB avalable, F drive has 1.8 TB available; today is the day I will try to contact Adobe for help, wish me luck.

I agree with the above post. I think it may have as much, if not more, to do with needing to update Win10. Whenever my photoshop slows down to a crawl, it almost always... like 99.99% of the time, gets cleared up if I update Windows 10. I always seem to forget that, and struggle through trying to figure out what is wrong with Photoshop or lightroom, until I finally remember to check for the windows updates.

Can't hurt.

I have a PC w/windows 10 ... after I upgraded the most current version of Photoshop a couple weeks ago I noticed that the program was running very slow, Example: regardless what editing operation I try to do (white balance, exposure, contrast & etc.) it takes 5 - 15 seconds to take effect, the program is almost worthless in its current state of operation.
I have deleted and re-installed PS on my computer, no change.
A couple of weeks ago I asked you hoggers for assistance, a couple of people responded, bot the suggestions did not work, so I'm asking again ... appreciate any help you can offer.

Aso, I don't seem to be able contact Adobe about the problem?? Frustrated!!
Thanks

Hi. Adobe has excellent customer service. Call 800-833-6687 and follow options to "speak to a representative". They will get it figured out.

Hopefully you can find a solution to get your speed back closer to what it was before. In general you will continue to be frustrated with the gtx 560 graphics card though. Adobe and others have moved towards utilizing the graphics card more and more lately in an effort to speed things up. More cuda cores and Vram (memory) in the cards are needed now to take advantage of that. I went from a gtx 680 to a 1080 and it made all the difference in the world. Also switching from Nvidia's game ready drivers to the Studio drivers helped a lot with the speed of photo editing.

Looks like your 560 card is at least 8 years old and here is one link. https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/geforce-gtx-560-amp-edition-gtx-560-directcu-ii-top,2944.html

Also take a look at Puget Systems for information. I see things have changed just since my last computer build in late 2017. https://www.pugetsystems.com/recommended/Recommended-Systems-for-Adobe-Photoshop-139/Hardware-Recommendations

Check the Task Manager processes tab and see if some other process is hogging CPU. If so, try right clicking it and End Process. I had some generic sounding process bogging my system down after the last Creative Cloud update and this fixed it, apparently for good.

Do you have the minimum recommended computing resources to run Photoshop CC 2020? (Personally, I'd double or quadruple most of these!)

Why shouldn't Photoshop be installed on the same disk as the OS? I store my OS and applications on one disk but my data is stored on another. My scratch disk is stored on my fastest drive which happens to be the same disk my OS and applications are on.

I have the same question. Can’t remember when the data has been other than a separate drive from the OS with software on drive with OS.

You might try a win 10 disk clean up. Also how much room is left on your OS drive? Sometimes if it gets less than 10% things will slow down. I do mine about every 6 months.

Simple stuff but sometime simple is better.

I probably should not respond as I am not a computer expert, but there is one aspect that could be clarified. Your system, with 32GB of RAM, should not be employing the scratch memory unless you have a mass of programmes working in the background. Have you checked as to what programmes are using memory and how much is being used in total? As for the scratch memory you have indicated the vacant space on two drives, but that is most unlikely to be what you have allocated to this overflow function. What space you have available for scratch memory may be the upper limit of what you are able to allocate, but what have you actually allocated to this function?

Anyhow, I hope that Adobe fixes it all with no drama.
