If you haven't, don't upgrade to Catalina for several months if not a year. Even with my new MacBook Pro and installing all the software from scratch, I'm encountering many bugs. Some a nuisance, some can't live with.

My problem is with scanning. I have an HP Officejet Pro 7740. I can print just fine from my Mac, but I can no longer scan from my Mac.

Not I, as well. Of course that is because I have seen no compelling reason to move out of High Sierra yet.

We're still on Mojave here, but will upgrade to Catalina in a few weeks, when 10.15.2 is available.

Bill - thanks for the update. Always look to you for advice on MAC and Mac OS.

Planning on waiting for a while on Mojave. No one yet has given me a compelling reason while I must move to Catalina now. Feels easier to let others be on the bleeding edge....

Please let us know when you have moved, and are settled. It will be good to know how you and your team fair....

I was on the phone with HP on Monday as I was interested in one of their sale machines. While I’m currently on Mojave, I don’t want to buy anything not compatible with Catalina. After a the sales rep consulted with his tech folks, he indicated that the machine I was interested in was not compatible. I then asked what machines they had which were compatible. After another short absence, he came back and said none at the moment! This may not match folk’s real world experience, but I rely on my all-in-one and will not upgrade until I can see a path here.

Try Hamrick VueScan or SilverFast 8. Those scanner software apps run nearly all popular scanners abandoned by their makers!

Note that HP, Canon, and Epson take a while to catch up with MacOS upgrades. Check back with them in a month or three.

A workaround for 32-bit apps is to install MacOS Mojave or High Sierra as a virtual machine running in Parallels Desktop on top of Catalina. It sounds like a bag on the side of a boat on the side of a barge, but it DOES work. And Parallels lets you run Windows (any flavor), Linux, DOS...

Only caveat: you must have sufficient resources (processor cores, RAM, VRAM, and drive space).
