I have the desktop imac 27 and just love everything about it. I switched from a PC and have had absolutely zero complaints. I work all my pictures with elements 8 and print some of my prints without any trouble at all. Forgot to mention I have had it since 2009. I am going to upgrade system to Mountain Lion in the near future. Right now i am in the process of upgrading my ram to 8g.

Before I make a decision, I'll go to an Apple store and see them in person. A 27" might be in my future, but not in my immediate future.

Take your money with you. Once you walk in the store and play with them you will be sold. We can now say you have come to the MAC side you will not regret it!.

It's over an hour's drive each way, so that's a built-in safety feature. :D

Don't set your mind on a 13 inch until you've seen the retina display on the 15 inch macbook pro. It'll knock your socks off!

That's what I'm afraid of. The price is right up there with the socks removal. :D

I have an older iMac. Love it. I love the large screen and I like a full size keyboard. I'm hoping to upgrade to a new one soon.

I don't have a laptop yet and looked into the new retina display Macs. They started at $2500. I ended up ordering a Dell 17" off QVC the other night for @ $650. It comes with Elements 10 installed. The selling point was 4 years of "American" 24/7 tech support. It will do for travel and downloading photos while out of town.

I switched from a Dell to a MAC - their service has gone downhill. I switched to Dell because of the good service and it was the best in the industry for maybe 10 years. Now - they just don't care once they get your money (my personal experience). If I have a problem with my MAC I drive down to the local Apple store and it's taken care of.

The only question I have concerns the angle of the screen on a laptop so you get the "perfect" viewing angle for editing purposes. I've seen this question asked on other sites but there never seems to be a good answer. At least with my desk top system the viewing angle remains constant. A few degrees off on a laptop screen can make a significant difference on PP.

The screen on my 15" Dell laptop has a different appearance, depending on the angle. I asked here about that situation with the Mac, and it doesn't seem to be an issue.

I'm answering you on my MacBook Pro (pictured above on post made earlier today.) Yes, the angle you view your screen does matter. It gets dimmer if not viewed straight on. I don't find it a problem.
