Don't move the images from your card to the computer. Instead, COPY them to the computer, which leaves the original still intact on the card. when you finally decide you don't need them on the card anymore, reformat the card in the camera.

Maybe the pics are in the wrong place or maybe they are .jpeg instead of .jpg.

Another common error with the people I support is that they make a shortcut to the file on the card instead of copying the file. They right click and copy, followed by a right click and "paste shortcut" instead of paste. That is easy to do.

What's the difference between .jpeg and .jpg ?

Going way back to the early PC days, computer files used extensions with three letters, so JPEG became jpg - same thing.

I can understand why you would want to do this. But it could prove to be daunting. I my self use a Flickr account to upload what picture I want to share. Most folks have Internet on tv now days and I can pull them up that way. Or on a phone, or iPad I have found it a helpful way to share!

My wife and I got new TVs five years ago, and they are already out of date - no Internet access. Technology is changing too fast!

By the way, when husband and wife have separate TVs, that makes for a happy marriage.

True story the tv manufactures are changing options faster than I can learn to use them or remember I have them!

It probably has to do with folders. I have an Olympus E5 and to take pictures (jpeg or movie files) from the computer to an SD card to view on TV I have to put them in a folder called 100OLMP and then put that folder in a folder called DCIM and then write thsat folder to the SD card. They then can be viewed on the TV. If you just put the jpegs or movies files on the SD card they won't show. Not sure what the folder(s) would be named with Canon or Nikon camerss.

I have the same camera and the same thing happened to me when I reloaded the files back on the card and in the correct folder. I don't think the camera will recognize the files unless it saved them to the card.

Agree - most probably a folder issue. Canon, Nikon and Android phones (with cameras) all store digital pics in a DCIM folder at the root of the SD card. Canon and Nikon allow you to use subfolders beneath DCIM. I have my Canons configured to create a new folder for each day I shoot. (Nikon doesn't do the daily creation.) If you copied the files back to the root of the SD card outside of DCIM the camera will not see them. I just copied a Nikon created picture into DCIM on my Canon SD770 and can view it just fine (although it does not display some of the basic EXIF info.)

(update after rereading Drumdr comment above)

Did your processing in Picasa involve a name change to the files? If so, keep in mind that cameras are stuck in the old DOS world of 8.3 no spaces file names. I just reconfirmed this by renaming the Nikon files I copied over to the SD770 with long file names - they were no longer viewable.
