Since there are already two topics titled "A slow day" posted to FYC this afternoon, I figured I might as well 😇

One of my favorite oldies from when I was enamored with Picasa frames and Topaz finger painting. Please do not edit or otherwise alter with illustrative marks, but if you are so inclined, I'd enjoy hearing whether this image made you smile or yawn (with boredom). Other observations welcomed.

Many thanks!

When fishing, sometimes a slow day is a good day (to relax).

Linda I really like your photo. FYI the cup you refer to is most likely a jar of Berkley Power Bait. It comes in either a cream cheese sort of texture or small pellets that are placed on a hook. It is made up of ground up fish and a flavor such as maybe cheese or garlic. There are other flavors (scents) and colors all used to attract fish.

I like the subdued colors and the reality of the photo. I fish a lot and have seen kids just like this one including my own sitting patiently waiting to catch a fish. I notice the top end of the fishing rod has been broken off as there should be another 4-6 inches to the tip. Not a problem for this young man though. His rod will do well as long as there is a fish on the hook. I wish him well. You too.

Thank you, Dennis. I very much enjoyed your explanation about the cup and your observations of the photo.

It's bright. It's colourful. It's simple (that's a good thing). My only niggle with it is what is he looking at? He's clearly not watching his pole. On the other hand, I do like that his face is turned and therefore I can see how cute he is.

Thanks for commenting, Kathy. One problem with posting an older shot is I can't always remember the details I think he was looking at his father and it's possible that Dad had just noticed me and I was uncomfortable hanging around. I also sort of recall I wouldn't have been able to get a profile shot of him if he turned to look at the lake, due to trees or distance or some-such. Guess I'll stick with that story for now. I appreciate your time and feedback!

I don't think the direction of the boy's gaze detracts from the picture at all. We are all too easily distracted, more so a small boy

I love it! It tells the story so well. As an image, I can say it excels to my taste for the subject and intent. Definitely deserves an Atta Girl!

Brought a smile to my face, and also my wife when I showed her, I love it!
