For all of you who are surprised that Adobe products now don't work with Catalina: Apple warned over a year ago that Mojave would be the last major release compatible with 32 bit code. Adobe chose not to modify 32 bit code to work on Catalina so that it could force those of you who chose to stay with Adobe to move to it's subscription model.

We have had numerous threads during recent months about the coming change warning users to either switch to another product than LS/PS (e.g. to Luminar, ON1, etc.) or to be resigned to paying Adobe's subscription fees. There will be no "corrections" to 32 bit code for current stand alone products. It's all 64 bit now or nothing.

I am now operating Catalina and using ON1's Photo RAW 2020 for post-processing and am growing to much prefer it to LR. Haven't found any significant bugs and the learning curve is not that bad. I'm especially liking it's haze adjustment to get some punch in landscapes.

I don't know Jerry. It is Adobe that has the problem not Apple. If you don't take or edit pictures you have no problem.

I disagree here. While there are certainly issues with Adobe, Apple has “plenty”on their own without even going there. The best advise here so far, and as echoed by my local Mac IT expert on Monday, was, unless you have a compelling need to update to Catilina, don’t do so for 90 days.

Both in my personal world and in business world, I usually am one upgrade “behind”. (Heck, we are finally just dumping the last of our Win 7 machines at work due to the coming January Sunset on security patches from MS). Never really hurt me to wait a bit, especially on these major updates.

JMHO, YMMV

I recently updated to Mac OS Catalina, and immediately began having problems accessing certain programs and apps. Apple support helped me regain connectivity, but when it came to Photoshop they said I had to contact Adobe. I have Photoshop Elements 12, and since the update of the operating system, the program closes unexpectedly. Usually just after I complete my edits and just before I save them. Has anyone had a similar issue, and if so, what steps did you take to resolve it? Thanks, Herb

Apple ain't what she used to be!! Too many irons in the fire, keeping people confused, busy making a buck, too much change, etc. Apple, take a deep breath, relax and go back to your original business values!!

I agree with that. It seems to me that Apple has become more of a telephone company than a computer company. If they want to continue keeping their main focus on iPhones, they should spin off computers.

I have had the same problems with Photoshop CC 2019, very frustrating. Just updated photoshop, hope the results are better. I have to remember not to update the Mac so quickly in the future, Rich M.

Just a thought for the future. I try and give new OS or updates from my other software time
to shake out problems. Or don't want to yet. Don't know why you jumped on Catalina. I am running
Sierra and it is fine. Good luck. For what Adobe is charging us they should be ready? Good luck.

From my PERSONAL experience, ADOBE is more than ready. Working well for me.

I have not yet switched to Catalina. So I plan on downloading and installing my present OS, Mojave, on A flash drive for use with the old 32 bit software. It will run slower, but it will work.

I saw a post here yesterday that reported that Adobe didn't recommend Photoshop users update to Catalina until ".....some issues are resolved..."

I have experienced issues with CATALINA as well.
Contacted apple and they said to contact Adobe.
Adobe said they are aware of bugs and will have a release out sometime.
Apple said you can not go backwards to previous OS.

I updated to a newer operating system a while ago, not Catalina, and the upgrade caused a problem in the print dialogue box in Photoshop that could not be resolved. I had just purchased the computer, an iMac, and the people at the Apple Store could not resolve the issue because once this problem was in the computer you could not get rid of it. To make a long story short I do printing professionally and I need to be able to use the print dialogue box in Photoshop and the people at Apple had to give me another computer because of this issue. I will not upgrade to another operating system because of this issue.

I agree. I am still using High Sierra and don't feel the need for Mojave or Catalina. I do a lot of post-processing and my I-Mac works very smoothly and quickly.
