Putting banner ads in-line with posts would be questionable. But, nearly full-screen video is going to be something that kills this goose ....

Here's an example, both are running video and each is nearly full screen on the laptop I'm viewing:

There was a suggestion of 'adware' or something malicious running on this computer. However, after confirming Chrome was the current version, I performed the Chrome Advanced / Clean-up for "harmful software". The Chrome scan ran about 15-minutes and reported not finding anything. Norton Internet Security didn't find anything except for tracking cookies. Finally, the Oct-2019 version of the Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Tool was executed in full scan mode. The MRT run for 8-hours before locking up the system, scanning 1,361,0077 files and found 0 malicious software against a drive with approx 700GB of data.

In Chrome I clicked the padlock icon next to the UHH address in the address bar and viewed the site information. I then deleted / removed all cookies in use by the site, closed and re-opened the browser window. That seemed to resolve the issue, changing the advertising from 'AdChoices' back to banners.

OK, I have some info about this.

It wasn't on your end after all.

It looks like Google started experimenting with ad sizes without my consent. And it seems to be affecting a small number of users they picked randomly. Like a split-test.

Which explains how clearing cookies "solves" the problem. When you clear cookies, you are then off that small list of users who were selected for this "test". Unless you happen to be randomly added to it again.

Anyway, I'm waiting for their response now. Hopefully they'll stop this madness.

I actually saw what you are talking about on my phone. So out of all my browsers and devices, the browser in my phone seems to be among the randomly selected for this stuff. Good thing I noticed it aa my Google settings explicitly prohibit them from "experimenting". But I guess they don't care about that or it was some kind of error in their system.

So for now clearing cookies (repeatedly if necessary) should take care of it. And I'm sure they'll fix it soon. Because this is just madness of them to change ad sizes randomly.
