Tremendous success story! Shows what dedication and self sacrifice can accomplish!

It's also wonderful that your "student" has surpassed the "teacher" in both expertise and success . . . your work has provided her with a great foundation that she took to the full and developed (pun intended) a great life adventure!

Great Job!

a few of us on here have talked about giving cameras away two kids or whatever that we don't use anymore to get them started into photography. I have not seen any success stories so I thought I would share one. My wife and I gave our granddaughter a camera at the age of 4 years old start taking pictures of her family and whatever because she was interested at that young age. Lo and behold that didn't last long, but she did pick it back up again a few years ago that I gave her another camera and she got into it and ended up buying the Nikon d 3400. she started out by doing some night star stuff milky way and then got it into real estate, taking photos for realtors. She made a little at that but it wasn't enough for her so she started doing Boudoir photography about a year ago. She's done a hundred thousand the first year, and expects to double or triple that next year. she has clients flying her all around I m private jets to do their photo sessions with her. She has one that's flying her to Las Vegas and another wants to fly her to take photos at the Eiffel tower. She started off in Flagstaff Arizona and is now working in Scottsdale and Phoenix area with an office in Scottsdale.

Encourage her toward the D850 and Sony mirrorless. I use both and am very satisfied.

Good story and a good bit of guidance early on.

Love being a grandpa! At the intersection of unconditional love, total support and necessity is where you find the most successes. Good goin' Frank,

She's quite the entrepreneur! That's an amazing story (I still have a vision of butt cheeks dancing in my head after reading the article). :-P ;-) I always think of people as having inborn affinities that if they're lucky and get exposed to the right thing/s, something sparks in them. She obviously had the creative nature in there waiting to be developed (no pun intended). It was so good of you to recognize and nurture her interest at a young age. She must be pinching herself sometimes that she gets to do things that not only provide well for her financially, but she feels she is helping others feel better about themselves and their lives.

Thank you for sharing!

She does nice work. Way back when I did the photography modeling, even a Playboy stink. The pictures now are so much better than then, but then so are the cameras and the photographers. It really is all about the photographer. Tell her my hat's off to her. Great job!!!

Are you kidding me just because it is not your cup of tea does not give you the right to degrade what someone else is proud of his granddaughter accomplishing

And to Frank congratulations on helping your granddaughter find something in this life that she is passionate about, so many people go their entire lives looking for that one thing.

Thank you for putting that unit commenting person straight.

She does a lot more than just photograph people. Yes people, she also does men..... She also does portraits of family's in the environment they love......

The biggest thing she does is MAKE PEOPLE FEEL GOOD ABOUT THEMSELVES..

If you do a search on "vanity by Mandy" it will become very obvious how successful she has become. Her success is more than the photography, it is making people feel good about themselves.... Hey personality and drive is what has me made her successful.

I might have gotten her started, but now I am the student.....

Thanks to all for your comments (except for one, although that one is entitled to their opinion).

Proven again, that if anyone has drive, passion, and finds a need, they can become very successful in this country......

VERY nice work. She's obviously found her niche. From the looks of it, she's probably well-connected to the professional photography community (i.e.; PPA, WPPI, etc.).

I think the most important point is that she found her purpose in this. Nature rewards those who help others in some way. Boosting self-esteem is always a worthwhile endeavor.
