Greetings everyone!
I am currently running an older iMac (6yrs old, which in computer age is ancient) and I have iOS version 10.9.5. I am thinking of updating to the current iOS version as there is some photo software I would like to use that requires updating to the latest version of Mac iOS. Also of importance, I use Photoshop CS6. Now before I do this, I want to know if anyone who also runs Photoshop CS6 has updated to the latest iOS version on their computer and if there are any compatibility issues with CS6 after updating. I know I am behind the times by not using the subscription based Photoshop CC, but for my purposes I just haven't bit the bullet to start doing the subscription. Also while I am here, does anyone know if I do start to subscribe, then find I don't want to anymore, does updating to the subscription based CC render my CS6 useless?? Or can I keep both going on the same computer until I decide whether the subscription is worth the update??
Just curious about anyone else's choices to update or not or what happens once I do. I am hesitant as I don't want to lose the function of CS6 that I have now. Thanks for any responses to the quandary.
I'm not on a Mac but I use CS6 on a PC and reinstalled it on the latest Win10 Pro 64bit OS. I had no problems.

I just bought a new iMac last Feb, I was able to load CS6, but I could not update it for RAW converters for my D800 & D810, the work around worked but was a PITA.
I switched to PSCC for $9.99 month and I am not sorry, By the way the subscription is cheaper, the CS6 cost me a bit over $700 . I did not lose any functions, but I did gain some and updates are automatic if you choose.
I had a problem updating my older Mac and lost CS6. It just doesn’t work as well. Also if you download CC and use it you have problems using CS6. I don’t know what happened (no technical person here😀) just that it did. That being said I am happy with CC, in some ways it is a lot better. You also get Lightroom but I could never get it to work right on my computer. Good luck.
I probably should get a new Mac, but all I use it for is editing photos and I don’t want the expense. 😀 Everything else I use the IPad.

I'm running an 8 yr old windows 7 machine, and I found that PHotoshop CC not only runs better and faster, but has none of the drama that trying to run and get support on long outdated software. After using CC for nearly 5 yrs, I have yet to spend what it cost to buy my CS5 and upgrade to CS6 ($700+$200). I still have 3.3 yrs before I reach the break-even point. And that is not counting Lightroom, which if I add that into the calculation, it will take me over 5 yrs to reach the break-even.
I upgraded the OS on my 2 older MAC computers (2013) to High Sierra, and unfortunately at the same time. I have CS5 and Lightroom 6 on both. Both programs on both machines no longer work correctly and unexpectedly shut down, so pretty much useless. I am now forced to scrap my software and go to the monthly subscription model. I know the CC software has many upgrades but I don’t really care as what I had worked perfectly fine for my needs. Now I am sorry I upgraded the OS on both machines instead of just one of them. So beware on OS upgrades and how older existing programs may be affected.
I had the shutdown problem too. I would be working and it would quit and bam- it was gone.
I upgraded to Mojave and my CS5 is still running OK.
I am running MacOS 10.14.6 (Mojave) and Photoshop CC on line. I have had no problems and I was already running the PSCC on earlier OS versions without any problems. Transparent and flawless is my experience. I am waiting for things to settle out for the next OS update as it is not compatible with the versions of Microsoft Office Mac that I use and some expense will be involved in updating. Besides, everything is running, as I said, flawlessly right now, I don't want to mess with success!

It’s not the CC subscription models of PS and LR that are the problem. It is the older non-subscription versions of PS and LR that have the problem with the later OS updates. I started to experience problems with the update from Sierra to High Sierra on my Macs.

Love Photoshop 6. Rather than risk trouble with Apple upgrades I bought a second computer, specifically to try out new programming. Turned out that I am so content with my existing software and cameras that the newer computer languishes. For now.
My second computer came second hand from a Mac store (Apple licensed). This was not expensive, you could spend more on a new iPhone with its contract.
Since you apparently see features in newer software that could be useful to you, I suggest that you spring for a new computer and get the Photoshop CC subscription on it. The old computer avoids the loss of peripherals that stop working with OS upgrades. The new computer allows for a soft transition into a future that will cause change just so the manufactuerers can make money.
I used to view on line tutorials to see what was new. Since then I have used the new Photoshop CC at a friends house and not discovered any features that are important to me, but I believe it would be a good investment for someone with a longer view of the future.

If you have a Mac Pro (not the round body), stay away from Mojave. It caused me all kinds of problems. I had a Mac technician change back to High Sierra and no problems any longer.
I've got a MacBook Pro, 15inch, early 2013, laptop and I edit with a bought and paid for version of Adobe CS6.
I was running macOS El Capitan and had to update to Sierra version 10.12.6 in order for Topaz software AI apps to work.
CS6 is still running fine for me.
