Thanks lightandshadowjourney. We left the hotel at 9:00 PM, returned at 4:00 AM the next morning.
Shot with Nikon 7100, Sigma 10-20mm wide angle lens (18 - 20mm had the best results), ISO 1600, f/3.5, 20 second exposure.
Important to have a flashlight with a red bulb so as not do disturb other photographers.
We were in Tomso Norway last year, but we were too early. Good luck.
Perfect information, thanks!! Did you try to shoot a video?

No I did not. There wasn't much motion.
You will need a sturdy tripod. I manually focused on a large star near the aurora. Used a remote shutter release.
Thank you. I surely hope I can A) see the aurora and B) come close to your results!
Wow, great captures. I've been to Alaska numerous times but never saw them.

Beautiful captures! Third one is showing some red. Thanks for sharing.
Love seeing the aurora, got to see it a couple of year's ago (5 nights!). Sometimes it is near motionless, other times it MOVES FAST! At times 1 second exposure can be way too much. Most of the time 20 to 30 second exposure is about right. One night, there was one visible for hours, just near motionless, then for approx. 5 minutes it 'danced' and was multi-colored!!!
There is a place just outside of North Pole, with unobstructed skies, a flood control area, but no foreground objects to add to the photo, though.
Very Nice, still waiting to see my first one.
What a GREAT capture. So beautiful. Mahalo for sharing.
