I do like seeing the bird in his environment. But the close up crop is great. I wish there was a way to see both!

Beautiful shot. Just keep in mind when cropping, not to put the bird right in the center - leave a bit more space at the top (which you've done) and in the direction the subject is facing - so the bird should have some space in the direction is is "going." I hope I explained that clearly. You made a beautiful photo.

To me, that's presenting what you saw, not what the camera saw. Since almost everything I shoot and process will only be viewed on a video screen image size is not that important to me.

The cropped image is much better. The not cropped image is more like a snapshot. Very nice.

Thanks, my philosophy: Often times it pays to be different. Your work will not stand out with cookie cutter compositions.

I usually provide the pixel dimension of an image to give an indication of how much was cropped out. However actually seeing a before and after image leaves no doubt about the size of the crop.

The original was taken in the crop mode with the A7R4 (about 26mp) and 70-200 G f4 at 200mm, then cropped further.

I rarely save unprocessed images for no other reason that I prefer to process them once. That keeps me moving forward.

That is a stunning result and your camera is a winner...no question. Congratulations.
