I am very new to this photography compulsion, introduced by my son , who is very keen . Now I have been totally sucked in.
Bought a Nikon 5100 about a month ago and already planning my next purchase. Did regret not going a bit more high end but now realise that I have a lot to learn and need to wait, not as simple as I thought !!!
Will be posting some question but do not understand what I am doing so please be gentle with me !
Welcome, but with a name like Hammer I'm not to sure how gentle we can be.

Hello Hammer, welcome to the hog. You will find many many people here will be gentle and explain things that you ask in an understanding way. We are all here for the same thing...to enjoy each others work. So ask away, and you will receive answers.
Hi,

Hi Heart
Fantastic, many thanks , been onto the Nikon site and did not even notice this !
Hi from New Zealand, and am sure you will enjoy.....
Yup, I am on my forth camera, still learning, want a better one, can't afford it, don't deserve it cause I still don't understand the ones I have! Can't resist all the new bells and whistles new technology promises. But I am, by birth, more of an artist than photographer. When I switched over to the camera from watercolors, I found out that it was in the photo processing realm I belonged. I have a rather good eye for the subject, but prefer to do some editing artistically and get the product that suits me-----but critics usually want a photo to look like a photo. Do your thing, please yourself and any customers you make along the way, be sure to read and question a lot from this site, make some friends and above all, enjoy everyone's talents. If you want critique, toughen up cause that's what this site does to make you better----if again, that's what you want. If you just want to share, simply say share and we all will hopefully be kind.
Welcome to the UHH
