Getting mad as h_ _ _ at Adobe

I have spent this entire day trying to open my Photoshop Elements 10. I keep getting an "error 6" message. When I tried to find help by doing a live chat, I got sent to the "forum" section which did no good at all since I was unable to find a solution there for my problem. I finally uninstalled everything Adobe and tried to reinstall using my dvd that came with my Epson printer. Elements 10 was included with the printer. I thought it was going to work when I got a "error 2343 specified path is empty" message. I am going to call the 1-800 number but I have all but given up hope. Well, that was my rant for the day. I have a feeling there may be some others dissatisfied with Adobe.

When you are trying to install an old program and having a problem, I can certainly understand that. Especially when the current program is $60.00 at B&H. I doubt you will get any support from Adobe with that program. It would really surprise me if you did.

Elements 10 is OLD, 7 generations, released in 2011. Some times old apps will grandfather in as a system is updated but sooner or later it doesn't work any more.
It may be time for a new version of Elements. PSE 2019 is now down to $59.99 since PSE 2020 is due out soon.

Thank you for a quick response. I was under the naive impression that once you bought something, it was your to keep/use. I guess Adobe has proved otherwise.

Online it seems PSE10 went out of support in 2011. You seem to have been lucky in getting anything other than, "Please upgrade your software <click>." Did you try google for your error message? It would seem this issue relates to a corrupted Windows Registry where many software packages encounter this catch-all error code in Windows. Try this link to Adobe that provides another link to Microsoft for some type of registry clean-up tool. No promises.

Yes, it is old, but so am I. I could understand it if it were an inanimate object that you can damage, lose, etc., but not a program. Oh well, live and learn.
Thank you for looking and responding.

You did buy the software to keep and to use, in sickness and in health. But, you didn't buy a never ending, never expiring support contract and a promise by Adobe to maintain that software version for compatibility with unknown future developments in computer hardware and operating system changes.

Thank you for the link. I am going on it now.
Google was the first thing I tried. I went through a rigmarole of useless, suggestions that didn't even begin to work: Command Prompt, Run as admin, etc.

The software may have gone beyond life-support ... I still run PSE10, but also I know that if / when a problem comes, if I can't research and fix it myself, that will be the end its useful life on my computers as well. Good luck.

Thank you Paul (I hope it's Paul) You are a genius! It worked. It was a problem with the registry keys for 64 bits, whatever that means.

Yes, but in that case there would be no desire for antiques.
I like old cars too.

Considering the divorce rates, the "in sickness and in health" promises don't always work out either.
Your help site did the trick!

It is the time of year that the new version of PSE is due out. Typically the previous version then goes on sale. Received an email from Adobe offering PSE2019 for 59.99 last week. Might be worth the update for all the enhancements and changes.
