It is photos like these (of yours!) that inspired me to go to Alaska. Absolutely awesome beautiful.
I had to look on a map to see where Mentasta Lake is located. Next time I am thru there, I will have to make the slight detour... and MORE time! Thanks Mike!!!

Mentasta Lake is right by the Tok cutoff, you can't miss it.
You and your work are an inspiration, Mike!
Blacks2, great photos. Interesting how paths can cross. For the past 15+ years I have contracted with Alaska Gateway School District for psychological services, my retirement job. Mentasta is a Native Alaskan village, one of 7 sites in the district. Mentasta Lake is next to the village and can be seen driving there, about 7 miles off the main highway. I have had the pleasure seeing it at all times of the year, including when totally frozen over. Your photos indicate that you were there during some ideal times. Incidentally, I recently turned 80, right behind you. That you for posting. Frank

Frank, that is interesting, I went once into the village, I thought there was something to photograph but beside the school there wasn't much there, I saw one boy with a dog and ask him how he liked it here , he just starred at me, that's all. I saw a Cabin before halfway that had a grizzly hide tagged on the front. I have a picture of that.
Stay Well.

You may be 90, Mike but your photography is very young. Great job.
I hope my photography is half as good as yours when I reach 90. At least I have a few years to go (I'm 70) so maybe I'll get there.
