This Mama decided to bury her eggs behind my home . I hope to see some little ones if I am lucky.

Some sort of Cooter, it looks like. Turtle egg nests are vulnerability to predation from raccoons and foxes, etc. I have seen people put small fences around the nests to keep the critters away. The female turtles are experts at locating the best sites, so leaving the eggs in place is best.
Mike
She is a tortoise ( land turtle ). However we are only about 50 yards from a beautiful lake.
I have considered protecting them somehow . Maybe a fence might be best . We do have raccoons visiting my fig trees nearby .

Very nice photo of Wildlife, you can be proud of this shot!
Looks like some good photo opportunities in the near future for you.
I'm not sure a fence would keep out the 'coons. How lucky you are! I hope you get some pictures of the hatchlings. I'm told they're really small.

Definitely not a tortoise.
Mike
Mike is spot on! She IS a turtle ( of the red-eared slider / painted turtle group) not a tortoise, and undoubtedly spends most of her life in that lake “about 50 yards away”.
Nice shot!
Dave
Very nice photo, but she didn't look too happy.
