I had a severe GAS attack when vising EBAY today. I found a good deal on a Nikon AF-S DX 55-200mm f/4-5.6G ED VR II Lens so I bought it. A while later I found an even greater deal on a Nikon AF-S DX VR Zoom-Nikkor 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6G IF-ED so I bought it, too. These 2 lenses are sort of similar, so I'm wondering if I should give 1 of them away..........

Q1- Should I give 1 of the 2 lenses away?

Q2- If so, which should I KEEP: (a) the 18-200mm or (b) the 55-200mm.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
By the way, is there a pill that will cure my GAS?
If you have to get rid of one, keep the 18-200. It is a good lens.
No pill for GAS. If there were, I would not take them. Life is short.
There is a pill for GAS. It is called Simethicone. LOL!
What keeps me from a GAS attack is my wife demanding my credit card!!
Keep the 18-200 its a good walking around lens, like the 28-300 on FX.
As was said above, life is too short to go without, as long as you have the cash. I have never said i wish i had not bought a specific lens, but i have said it should perhaps been a different one.
Try them both and see which one you like and give the other away to someone you know with a DX camera or to a school with a photography program.
Give all your money to your wife or husband as the case maybe.
Keep the 55-200, resell the 18-200 @ KEH and choose a random password for Ebay that you quickly forget.
It’s not really GAS unless you don’t have a body for those lenses.
We all talk a lot about GAS, but there’s good GAS and silly GAS.
If you see something that makes you wonder “What could I do with that?” and “Gee, I wish I had that the next time I try to...” then it’s probably IMHO a case of justified and creative GAS. If it’s just “That’s cool and better than what I have now...” you might want to think twice.
It really depends upon what other lenses you have.
If you've got an 18-55mm kit lens, you might keep the 55-250mm.
If you don't have an ultrawide or a fast portrait lens, sell/trade the 18-200mm ($587 new)... and put the proceeds toward purchasing an AF-P 10-20mm VR DX ($277 new) and, perhaps, a Nikkor 50mm f/1.8 ($197 new).... If you are interested in using them.
On the other hand, if those are the only two lenses you've got, sell the 55-250 and put the proceeds toward the 10-20mm... or whatever else might interest you.
It would be worthwhile to shoot a bit with each of them, to see if you have a real preference of one over the other.
Oh, and if you decide to get an AF-P lens, make sure your camera supports it. That's a relatively new type of autofocus drive and only more recent camera models are fully compatible with it.
At this point, you might as well use both lenses - then decide which one is better / most useful to you.
Yes I second that advice. It is good advice.
