This plant was seen in July next to a small pond in central Indiana. Does anyone know what it is? Thanks.
Kind of looks like a Wavy-Leaf Thistle.
Got it. It’s called a Canada Thistle. I found an App called ‘PictureThis’. Which quickly identifies plants.
Pretty in bloom, but classified as a noxious weed in many places.

Thanks for your help. There were some Canada geese nearby! :-)

Don't know if it's classified noxious here, but they are thick around here.

We have a similar plant here , Bull Thistle, a beautiful plant when blooming, but a REAL PITA to get rid of!!!
I had a 5a field full of them, it took 3 yrs of mowing, before they went to seed! to get rid of them. You darned sure don't want to handle them even with heavy welding gloves!!! the spines will find every seam and they hurt like hell.
Yes, it’s a Canada Thistle. These nasty critters are on the Indiana noxious weed list and, by law, are supposed to be cut down before they bloom because they will spread everywhere and eventually will take over an area. Farmers hate them.
Not even close, Thistle!!!
