I remember as a kid my mom using egg whites as a drawing potion. Think she mixed in a little baking soda if memory serves my right.

She didn’t put your splintered body part in the oven did she?

Haha...as a lifer tradesman (carpenter, cabinet maker, robot Geppetto) I just dig 'em out...if they won't cooperate with my sharp-as-hell tweezers. ;0)
I've been using ichthammol for at least 45 years. It works on just about anything. It seems to work sort of like warm tar. That's what my mother did. She'd go out to the road in front of the house, and scrape a small bit of tar off the road. She'd come in and apply the warm tar to whatever my complaint was - bee sting, boil, splinter, thorn... It always worked. I had forgotten about that until my kid got a splinter and that's when I discovered ichthammol, thanks to advise from the pharmacist. With the advent of concrete streets, tar has become hard to find.
