Traveling there soon. Any help on the areas or other information would be greatly appreciated?

Loc: South Bend, Indiana, USA
Starting point would be helpful.
Visited Reno in 2000, stayed in Tahoe. The view coming down from the mountain pass when you first see Lake Tahoe was spectacular as the clouds were below us, hovering over the lake. The drive around Tahoe is about 80 miles, but there's lots of beautiful photo sites. Emerald Bay has emerald green water near the shore. There's a sunset dinner cruise at night in an old paddle wheel riverboat type craft. That was well worth it, good food and drink and live entertainment. Anywhere along the state line to incline village you can get some beautiful shots of the lake with the mountains in the background. I'd say Lake Tahoe was the prettiest place I've been in the US, and I have been through about 40 of the states and both coasts.
Would start at Emerald bay and go around the lake. The east side is great at sunset.
The west side is great in the morning when the sun rises.
Virginia City is an old mining town not very far away. It was a great old charm picture taking area last time I was there.

Bobspez is spot-on. Was in Tahoe late spring this year. Very different under 3inches of snow. Emerald Lake wasn't green, but still very beautiful. Remember, for sunrise/sunset there are other/better options than facing the sun. A fiery red sky over a lake and silhouetted trees is beautiful but, really, could be any lake anywhere.
There's the newly opened Tahoe East Shore Trail near Incline Village and Sand Harbor. I'm planning on checking it out but I'm waiting for the schools to reopen. I want to try and avoid the myriad of tourists that visit the lake.
Tahoe East Shore Trail is a 2.6 mile point-to-point trail located near Incline Village-Crystal Bay, Nevada that features a lake and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, trail running, and road biking. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.
This newly formed trail was opened in the summer of 2019. The paved path is ADA accessible and features a 10-feet path overlooking Lake Tahoe. The path starts near Tunnel Creek Café in Incline Village and continues to Sand Harbor.
We traveled cross country last year including a stop over just outside of Reno. One of the highlights of our trip was a helicopter tour over Lake Tahoe. The one that we took was from the Truckee airport - not far from Reno. Recommend that for some great photo opportunities. Also, second the prior post recommendation to visit Virginia City. The drive around the lake is very scenic but I would have liked more places to pullover and briefly stop to take some photos.

If you are in Reno and Golf definitely go the the Resort and Golf at Red Hawk, Sparks NV, a suburb of Reno to the North.
I have no specific Tahoe place as I just wandered every little back road in the area that I could just enjoying the views etc. I would not be able to find them specifically again but there are so many.
Carson City is an absolute must and see where Samuel Clemens lived as he was dodging the Civil War.
In the mid-1970s I visited Lake Tahoe and Pyramid lake in Nevada (a ways north of Sparks) in summer, both with their own attractiveness, and again in winter (a ski trip) in 1980. I rented an aeroplane at South Lake Tahoe airport for a bird's eye view of the area, a great way to get interesting photos. Lake Tahoe in those days had water that was amazingly clear, but made for cold swimming. Pyramid Lake was green and warm.
The best food at the best prices was found at the casinos on the Nevada side. They also had some top level entertainment. Don't know if that's still true.
