That's quite a "bird". I can't get over how maneuverable the C-17 is.

We've hitched rides on the C-17 a number of time. Always a good ride. This the first time a scheduled C-17 flight was cancelled for maintenance with us waiting in the terminal. Our luck had run out: had to fly home commercially.

My son flew the C-17 SOLL II at Charleston for 8 years, great airplane; now currently flying the new KC 46A.

Not to be confused with the wonderful first class accommodations and seating in a C-130.
I flew numerous time back & forth between Elmendorf AFB in Anchorage, AK and Eareckson Air Station on Shemya.

My very last AT as an Army reservist was on a C-130 from Panama back to the States. Canvas seats, and BOY it took a long time, knees to knees with the guys across from us! Slow Ride.

My wife and I would far more rather fly in a C-17 than stuffed in a commercial airliner. Easy choice.

Not familiar with the KC-46, but then I'm an Army guy.

Thanks for your service. I missed Vietnam, by going to Germany for three years followed by EAD. Put in 24 more years in the Reserves before retiring at 55.
