Need advice. Getting weird colors
On Tuesday I received a refurbished Pentax KP from Ricoh. And a Pentax 55-300 HD ED WR f/4-5.8 from KEH in EX condition. Spent Tuesday going thru menus and setting it up. Wednesday went for a ride to take pictures. Had it set in Tav mode. The attached two horse shots were taken within seconds of each other but look at the colors! No change in settings. The bird was taken this morning after he ran into the window. Again, colors. The bird was in Tv mode. Again, seconds apart. Since I have an adapter, I tried the lens on my Fuji X-H1 and it seems to be OK. I don't have any other Pentax lenses so could not test the body. Either I have set something up wrong or there is something wrong with the body. Can anyone help?
I don't shoot with Pentax but I can offer general troubleshooting steps.
Check for a White Balance Bracketing option in the menus and ensure it is set to Off.
Set color space to sRGB unless you know what you want with color space.
Avoid high ISOs. I've read that high ISOs on your camera can cause funny colors. I checked your photos and they are lower than the threshold that I read about but still high for daytime shots.
That is really strange, like the white balance is changing. I was reading up on the WB for that camera and it is pretty versatile with the ability to set multiple selections for manual WB mode. Probably a silly question but did you take the camera back to factory settings before doing your settings?
IR Jim, am going thru menus again. Found where white balance adjustable range was set on Fixed. Changed that to auto adjust. Color space is on sRGB. Keni, no, I never even thought of resetting to factory settings. Thought they were already there as it was refurbished by the factory. I should know better.

Take camera off of vivid, set to neutral or Standard.
Looks like a software issue with the camera.
Did you make any pix before you began fiddling with the settings?
Reset the camera to factory specs and start over.
That's my WAG.
Good luck
From Pentax website regarding this camera: "The PENTAX KP provides a choice of nine filters during shooting, and 21 filters during playback, to create unique visual effects on your images. You can apply as many as 20 filters to a single image to create a distinctive, personalized work of art."
I suspect you might have the digital filters activated because the variations of your photos is rather extreme.

I have owned a KP since December. I have never had an issue such as this, so you are correct - either something is set wrong or the camera has a serious unusual error .... this is not a common issue.

Ring the Pentax Helpline. I have found them very helpful and they will talk you through a test and if necessary suggest what is your next step. OK, I know that you are in a different country, but that doesn't matter.
Th lens may have not been securely mounted or the camera contacts could be dirty.
It is obvious that whatever the problem is you have a color mismatch. It could be a setting in camera but since I do not use Pentax cameras and lenses I cannot offer any useful tips involving your Pentax. I would start by setting the camera to its factory default and surely the sRGB color space should be the default color. The sRGB color space is what monitors and the majority of printers can see. Adobe RGB and ProPhoto are wide color spaces useful when shooting RAW for editing in 16 bits but when it comes using them in the Web they should be converted to sRGB.
If after setting the camera to factory default the colors are still weird then a call to Pentax is in order.
If you haven't already done the factory reset, a look at your exif data shows what the problem is. Your "Image Tone" is set to cross processing/random, AWB correction set to "strong correction". The reset should correct the issue or you can just make adjustments to those two areas yourself.

I loaded your images into my KP. I found a definite problem with the parameters.
In the first menu item, you have
Custom Image | Cross Processing | Random
I haven't researched this parameter, but I would suggest that you change this to a more standard setting.
I use "Natural", but you might like something like "Bright", "Portrait", or "Landscape" better.
I didn't check the other parameters, but "Reset" {menu tools 5} is definitely called for.
