Like Ron White says, “You can’t fix stupid”!
A number of years ago, my wife and I visited Kentucky's Land Between The Lakes wildlife refuge. We were alerted by the literature to remain in our vehicles. Didn't have to tell me even once. Bison, elk, etc., are "wildlife" for a reason.
While in our Expedition, we stopped to gather some photos from within the vehicle. A young bison came up to our vehicle and used his head to put a dent in our door. Fortunately the dent popped out. His horns were pointed enough to gore anyone who got too close.
Yea, almost always it's a stupid human at fault and a wild animal who pays. I've seen plenty of stupid people over the years and Yellowstone is a standout for seeing that kind of behavior.

On my last trip, I twice saw tourists attempt to pet bisons. Fortunately the buffalos moved away and no one was hurt.

I thought that close-ups is why we have 300 & 600 mm lenses for.

So do I! I don't get the award, I award it!
If you want to know how stupid tourists can be, There is a book published titled "Deaths in Yosemite"
It's a thick book. Plenty of material for the Author

Some, no many people aren't aware that late July and the month of August is the prime breeding time for bison. I fear the bison more then any other animal in Yellowstone, very fast and can turn on a dime too! I saw the video and I think the park should go after the little girls parents and fine them. Several years ago I watched in harrow as a woman walked up to s sitting bull bison near Old Faithful and petted him not once but twice and no this was not a foreigner. Her boyfriend or husband didn't get it recorded on his cell phone the first time.

Quite a few years ago while driving though Oregon I saw a man get out of a car with an Eastern State license plate and attempt to walk up to a Roosevelt bull elk with camera in hand. The elk did have a very nice rack. I told the man not to approach the wild animal as it was dangerous. The man and his companions thoroughly excoriated me for my stupidity, and failure to recognize a great photographic opportunity. I left without further comment and the man probably got some good photos at significant risk.

Welcome home! Dave, you can say that again! Watch your post for something in the next couple of days.
Ron
The little girl was ok. Her parents should be in prison or at the very least caned for punishment.
