Was wondering if anyone is familiar with this style camera neck strap. My neck sure gets tired of holding the camera for any length of time anymore.

It looks like knockoff of a Black Rapid over shoulder strap of which I own? Just remember you get what you pay for.

I have been using one for several months. It takes the weight off your neck and moves the camera out of the way for normal movement. It is quick and easy to swing the camera up for use. The only caution is to never forget where the camera is in regard to sitting and moving. Keep it protected.

Do you carry it around your neck or cross-shoulder?
I carry it and/or my bag cross-shoulder with little fatigue.

I have used this style of camera neck strap for a couple of years now and it works great to get the weight directly off your neck and more on your shoulders, also easy to bring it up to shoot quickly . . that said, the HiiGuy strap also has a spare battery compartment in the shoulder strap for convenience . .
Just make sure the connector on the strap to camera is secure . . the original of this connector was not the clasp type of securing the camera to the strap, but more of a carabiner that had better secure closure. Don't want the camera to come lose with the twisting motion of carrying on the hip . .

Good luck with your search - found that it is more of a "personal" thing about the fit and use.

My familiarity with straps stops with UPstrap. http://www.upstrap-pro.com/. All of my cameras are equipped with their products. Well, excluding my Hasselblad 500c/cm and view cameras.

As stated above you get what you pay for. This looks like a cheap version of the Black Rapid or Peak Design. I use a Black Rapid with no issues.

Your neck was designed to carry the weight of your skull and it's various components, nothing else. If you are determined to damage yourself go for the noose immediately, saves time and is somewhat efficient. Kodak taught the world the addiction to neck straps, so be a tourist and use one. Hanging your camera from your neck is the equivilency of keeping it on a shelf. You want to make an image? Take the camera off the shelf and make the photo, then return the camera to it's shelf space. Why carry it at all? Crazy.

I'll throw my 2 cents in - I have been using this strap for several years and really like the way it works...even with my 600mm lens - it is comfortable, easy to use and well made.

My preference.
Same reasoning as above.
Really disliked having my camera in my face when moving around. Easier to control with hanging arm during light hikes, moving indoors.

Yeah, me too.
Your NECK isn't doing the work with this strap, your SHOULDER is.
Plus you need width. A 1" strap digs in, a 2.5" strap doesn't. Add a fake fur thingie to your pad.
Look kewl, feel good.

Looks like a shoulder strap and not a neck strap!

Bill,

Instead of a neck strap, try a Cotton Carrier. Instead of supporting your camera on your neck or shoulder, it distributes the weight to your mid section and evenly between both shoulders while keeping your camera centered on your body. It also provides drop protection for your camera while preventing a grab and run theft.

I would never use that form of strap attachment... For one, I have other things attached to the 1/4" tripod mounting hole of my cameras (quick release plates). But I also would prefer two points of attachment. A single point of attachment just seems too risky to me.

Putting that aside... I used to have quite a few neck, back and shoulder problems, until I stopped using the neck straps provided with my cameras. I use Op/Tech straps on everything now and they help a lot. Sure, I still get tired by the end of an 8 or 10 or more hour day of shooting. But the difference is significant.

Incidentally, I'm a member of Canon Professional Services, who occasionally send out little "gifts"... A couple of their straps I got that way are Op/Tech. So Canon recognizes those are better than what they supply in the box with their cameras!

Another big change I made some years ago was switching from a shoulder bag to a backpack. Distributing the weight of gear on two shoulder straps and, optionally, a waist belt makes a big difference too. I still have a small shoulder bag for some uses, but I keep that light and wherever I'll be hiking any distance or traveling with gear, it goes into a backpack.

I use a similar sling strap but with a wide neoprene shoulder pad. Mine was a similar price point, a startup that was distributed by Amazon. It was purchased 4 years ago and continues to serve me well. Imho, you don’t have to spend big bucks to get a quality, durable and usable strap.
