It't the FLAG that some of us didn't come home for so you you can say what you just said. Have a nice life.

I see the left side of her shirt has a lot of normal flags but the right side of the shirt and the sleeves have the flags inverted. I believe that is a distress signal.

I would guess the shirt is not made in the USA, but in some country where US flag etiquette is not known.

Don't think it was intentional, just conserving fabric. To cut directional fabric tends to waste more fabric than non-directional fabric. If not home made, but purchased, the factory would not "waste" any fabric.

I don’t think there’s an economic exemption in the flag code.

But to be clear, I think that displays of the flag should be permitted in the flag code as long as it is done tastefully and with respect to the flag. I don’t think flag should be prohibited from clothing as long as the intent is supportive. But the flag should be displayed as specified: with the block of stars in the upper left. Displaying it inverted is disrespectful unless it’s an emergency.

My grandmother living about a half mile away across a field, would put out a Flag upside down when she needed help.

The term used in the flag etiquette as outlined by the Almanac (that is not official, it's an Almanac, designed to tell you when to plant crops and identify the stages of the moon, etc.) refers to an actual flag. Like the ones you run up a flag pole, not a replica. According to the American Legion flags on clothing is not a problem. But it is NOT ok to cut up an ACTUAL flag (one that is made to be hoisted up a flag pole) and make it into a bikini, shirt, awning, etc. Please read this from The American Legion:
