In May windows came out with a new version of windows 10. version 1903
Did my update yesterday, went better than any windows install or update I've ever done.
Hope everyone else has this good an experience with it.
Added a couple of features but it seems to run better for me than my last version.
maybe because it doesn't have all those updates attached like the last version.
Uploaded to my laptop and later to my wife's desk top. I know should have done
hers first, to see how it would go.
Gene, I don't remember getting a notification of an update. I think with the last update I got some type of notification (email?) and just had to click on a link. How did you find out about this and is there a link somewhere? Thank you.
In the type here to search at bottom left. I think it is the cortana box. I typed in windows update. Checked to see if there were updates, it came up.
let me know how it works for you
I have not been able to get 1903 to load on my computer. I have been in contact with MS three times and still the same fail to install. When it gets to restart portion of the install, it will restart 3 times and then the fourth time my computer turns off and does restart. I press the power button and I get the message that it is undoing changes to made to the computer.
I have done the complete reinstall of Win 10 and still 1903 fails to update.
I got a message from MS saying that they were aware of many failures to install 1903 and they are working to fix the issues and I would be notified when these were fixed. I have not received a notice saying it was fixed and each time I try 1903 update it still fails to install.
Besides chatting with MS again, I would appreciate any thoughts about how to correct this.

Tony,
FYI: In Win 10, one may always go to (right click Windows icon) "Settings"/Update & Security to view last update and if a new update is available.
Mark
My update took four to five hours to do the download-install.

If you can uninstall the 1903 update and go back to previous version, wait until Microsoft fixes the 1903 version. I had some difficulty too - had to reinstall my last backup of my Operating System drive, (C:/). Then I updated to 1903. Everything is fine now. Backups are imperative.
Good luck,

I checked for the update using the search space at the bottom left of the screen and it came up with this:
"You're currently running a version of windows that's nearing the end of support. We recommend you update to the most recent version of Windows 10 now to get the latest features and security improvements."
There is a faint note below that to "learn more" and clicking it reveals "Windows lifecycle fact sheet" which is several pages of information about the wide range of updates and upgrades through which Windows 10 has eveolved. Along with that are dates which the support of the various types of WIndows 10 (home, educational, work, pro, etc.) will no longer be supported
There is also a link to allow one to review the updates and upgrades that have been installed on one's computer with the date of installation noted.
My suggestion would be to look over the history and the fact pages then decide if the update is feasible at this time, or if you wish to seek more information.
