I am headed to a Nation Park which should have perfect skies for star shots. Got out my equipment to practice last night D850 and Shutterbuddy Remote and it seemed to work correctly - I need practice but the equipment was working. Reviewed my shots and determined I was the problem and headed out today to verify. The remote trigger would not work. It is the wired version and something had changed between last night and this afternoon. Each piece of equipment seemed to work correctly but would not work together. Reviewing options for repaid before I leave and there are really not any that would work. Spoke to a guy at B&H and he said it was probably the shutter buddy. Ordered a new one up for quick delivery.
First, a compliment to B&H about the speed of their response and being available. With the number of camera stores dwindling, it is nice to have a go to place.
Second, a question, has anyone else experienced this and what were the results?

Most Helpful Positive Review 14 customers found this review helpful Works well, as expected My old shutterboss transmitter wasn't working (unresponsive to setting parameters), so I was interested in this new model. No price shown (even now), so I ordered by phone. Just received it yesterday, and it works well in wireless mode. If I attach the old receiver to one camera, and the new receiver to another, the new transmitter will trigger both. This new version has the ability to shoot up to 999 shots rather than 99 on my old one. This makes it usable for s... Most Helpful Critical Review 30 customers found this review helpful Great Concept, but be cautious. I have used the Vello Wireless Shutterboss on a number of occasions (e.g. for a wedding where I needed second story shots at the same time as shooting at ground level. Verified Buyer I have used the Vello Wireless Shutterboss on a number of occasions (e.g. for a wedding where I needed second story shots at the same time as shooting at ground level. Wide angle lens on a tripod-mounted 5D Mk IV with the shutterboss at a remote distance of approx. 75'), and it performs well once up and running. Good response to the remote signal, light, and easy to use.
There is just one issue I have experienced several times, which moved this unit from 5 stars to 3: for a reason known only to Vello, the + terminal battery connections are quite cheaply designed and manufactured. They use wire coil connectors recessed a bit for the battery to connect with. However, they occasionally flex too far back into the unit when putting in batteries, and suddenly the unit will not work. If there are no time pressures, you will figure it out, but when under the gun to get your gear set up, toss in the batteries in, try to power up, and suddenly the unit doesn't work, it is crazy making. I ended up pulling the wires out of the recess a bit with a small screwdriver, and they seem to be OK, but now I always need to check them, so just one more item for the list. Be forewarned.
