GeoTagging on Android

I would like to capture GPS data (GPX track) on my Android phone (there are lots of choices for that) then easily update photos copied from my camera. I have looked at a lot of apps, and installed several, but nothing does this in a simple way. It looks like Lightroom might work, but requires importing (SLOW....) and then using the "map" feature which might not be on the free version, then exporting into the location I prefer.

Suggestions?

What camera? Light room will import the a cig data and show the photo on map ( if it is recorded in camera) who's is the EASIEST WAY.

Canon 70D

I don't want to use Light Room -- it requires a slow import. I don't want to display locations on a map. I want the coordinates stored in a GPX file by an app such as Geotag Photos Pro to be used to update the EXIF in the files. I have considered GP-E2 and equivalent hardware and might have to go that route. Since I use my phone or table for first pass on review of photos, I am OK with adding one extra step as long as it is quick, easy, and will update all the photos I've taken during the day.

Might be out of your reach but there's a used GP-E2 that fits on the hotshoe that will write to each file as you take them for $104.00 on mpb. It's new at $240.00

There is no simpler way imo but it's more costly than a android app but far more accurate. It takes one AA battery that will last a VERY long time.

There really is no simpler way of tagging your photos other and using your camera itself forget the app get the gp-e2 that's what I was going to suggest it will tag every photo for you it will be in the exif data. If you want a list of all your photos with the GPS settings you can export that bulk with an app called exif pilot once you get to your laptop or desktop for downloading.

Lightroom does not take long to import the photos if it's taking a long time then you're building smart previews and all of that it takes longer if you do that. So import just the photos to your directory and nothing else. You do not have to show the photos on the map, that is just an option.

If you use the original image in another program besides lightroom does the information stay in the metadata or is the geo info then part of lightroom?

I get the Lat-Lon for an image two ways:

I take a picture with the phone at the place I'm taking pictures.

I use an app called "FollowMee". it can tag/log your route/location, then I view the locations on my computer. I can then either add the Lat-Lon to the image or title the image appropriately.

(Unless there is a definitive landmark, I can never remember where what was taken when I'm running around Mount Desert Island. Like the pond the beaver lodge was located...)

Thanks for the suggestion. I know very little about Lightroom so will check that. I'll probably go with the used GP-E2.

Check out Long shadows response. He uses followmee. Similar to yours, but maybe easier.

Does geo tracker record each location where you take a photo?

No, It takes a track and which you import and open in LR and you select the images and Map links the track to the images
