D750
Well, after months of reading articles, watching YouTubes and learning all I could from the fine folks here, I finally dropped the hammer; and last week my new D750 with a 24-120mm f4 arrived. It replaces a D200 which has served me well.
I was originally going with the D610, but since this will probably be my last new camera, I decided to move up. I managed to get 12 years out of my D200, and hope to repeat that longevity with this one.
Not even knowing a tenth of what i need to know, I'm already seeing some pretty stunning images.
I know there are a lot of D750 users out there. Anyone care to share your favorite "tips and tricks"? I also have a ton of prime AI glass I haven't even tried yet. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance for your advice!

I don't have the 750, but that is a great set-up you have, and should make wonderful images if you do your part. Enjoy the older lenses too. Good luck and have fun with the new750!!!
The D750 is a great DSLR. However I think you would be better served with the 24-70, f2.8. That lens pretty much lives on my D750. Can you return it for credit for the f2.8? The non-vr version is a pretty good deal.
But my DSLR had been gathering dust because I have been shooting mostly with my Mirrorless Olympus OM-D. And I am saving my pennies for a Z6.
I bought what I wanted, I like the extra reach on the lens I have.
I have a D750. If you don't shoot video, you might re-program the video record button for ISO (menu option f9). It's nice to have a button dedicated for ISO settings.
If you use the .jpeg files out of the camera, you might want to go through the picture controls and increase the sharpening to level 6. Nikon sets the default sharpening very low at level 3.
I don't shoot video, good tip. I shoot raw and jpeg. Thanks for the tip. Totally agree on the ISO button. I also like the My Menu function. Great place to list my non-CPU's.
Have had one for several years - does a fine job. Spend time with the user's manual and camera - it will pay off. Set up U1 and U2 - I have one set for monochrome, another for some personal color tweaks. Program in your AI lenses. Decide what functions you want on the various buttons and set those up. This is heresy, I am sure, experiment with Scenes and Effects - you may not use them often, but when you do they can be brilliant. I find the 24-120 to be excellent, and if you want smaller, the 24-85 as well. If you really work hard on the camera at the outset, your results will show it. Have fun with the new Tool / toy!
Ordered.....thanks. come to think of it, it's missing from my D200 as well.
You probably will loose the rubber eye cup since it is designed to slide off and be replaced with the Viewfinder Cap for live view, self timer, etc. Bought a couple of spares as recommended above. Not only have I not lost another one, I found the original against all odds!

Did you check the price for the D610? I think they are the same or higher price than the D750.
They in fact are. At least from Nikon.
Steve Perry has some excellent youtube videos on Nikons focusing system, well worth the time to watch
A year ago, I did exactly that, D750 with 24-120. I am glad I bought that combination. The lens is very sharp, focuses close, and suits 95% of all my shooting. I also have many AI lenses which I occasionally use on my D750, and I just have to be careful to focus carefully. I put a 64gb card in slot 1 for 14 bit lossless compressed RAW, and a 32GB card in the #2 slot for jpeg. Happy shooting!
