I received a gift of this lock from my sister. She picked it up for me because it doesn't open with a key or a combination. It works by a fingerprint scanner. It looked interesting enough. So I tried using it but I can't get the damn thing to open. On several separate occasions I followed the instructions and place my fingerprint on the sensor. No luck!! I called the company's customer service line. It was practically non-existent. I e-mailed the company my issue a week ago. No one has gotten back to me. I'm going to let all of my fellow Hoggers what a piece of junk this lock is and to avoid it like a plague. S

Some things are too high tech but too cheap to actually work. That's why I never use the in-room safe in a hotel room. I'm convinced I won't be able to open it.

Years ago, I bought TSA-approved locks for our suitcases. When I checked the luggage in at an airport (USA), I had to remove them. I guess TSA hadn't gotten their passkeys yet. : )

Used to be I had to scan in to work, but every other day, it would reject me. Turns out I have flexible fingerprints that often change, so, all this "fingerprint security" stuff is totally worthless to me!

Wow, don't commit any crimes because there will be NO forensic evidence to convict you.

Seriously, this lock seemed like a great idea. There are no keys to lose or break and no combinations to forget. However, two weeks of fussing with it, I have come to the conclusion that this lock is a piece of junk and a waste of my time. I have asked my wife and my sister to see if this lock would work for them, called the manufacturer, e-mailed them and had absolutely no success. Now, I have to find out where I can have this lick recycled as scrap metal.
I should have titled this thread as, "A LOCK NOT WORTH A LICK OF TIME."
Oh, well! My loss for trying this "lock."

I would like to do a service to my fellow hedgehoggers. Please don't waste money on this item.

It's TSA approved - take it to them - they should be able to open it...

I wonder how many TSA combo locks are set to something clever like 007 (three digits) or 1776 (four). I think that YouTube has several videos on how to open padlocks.

Sure I can take it to TSA for them to open it and then I can lock up my bag. When I want to grab a photo of the unique orchid my fingerprint won't work. Now I will have to make a quick trip (about 1 hour) to JFK airport.

The higher tech something is, the more there is than can go wrong with it. Your car will never have a Warp Shunt Drive defect....if it does not have a Warp Shunt Drive engine. Your MILC can never have a mirror defect....because it does not have a mirror. Your DSLR can have many mirror defects....scratches, pits, etc, because it does have a mirror. I never bother locking my bag at all. I have one carry on bag, and no checked bags. I keep my unlocked carry on bag near me, and I kill anyone-except airport security people-who try to take it / open it. Airport security people inspect my carry on bag in my presence, as I watch them. Anyone else touching my bag pays The Ultimate Price for having done so. There is no such thing as a lock which can not be gotten through....by picking, or breaking. Putting locks on things is false security. I know. I used to be a locksmith. A pair of open end wrenches will get anyone though any lock you can put on your bag. Open end wrenches are not illegal / burglar tools / weapons, so anyone can carry them anywhere....concealed, or openly. Forget the locks, and keep your bag in sight / in hand.

Did you start with the obvious?
Charge the lock
Enroll your fingerprint before using?

Yes I charged the bloody thing. And I tried to enroll my fingerprint on the damn thing. No luck here.
I contacted the company in different ways with the same result - you are
S-&%€-T out of luck.
I can't return it - the package was opened.
I will end up trashing this piece of junk
I will warn my fellow Hoggers about it.
As for false security, I thank Keen for pointing that out to me.
My sister meant well.

Flat or faulty battery (check that the charger actually is working also).
Change the battery.
If you can't change the battery give the lock to a Mac user who will be able to appreciate it.

I won't give it to anyone else because I don't want to lose a friend. I just wanted to let everyone know that this lock is not worth it. Everyone should steer clear

If you have grandkids hand it to them to try to open.....it’ll keep em off their phones for awhile, hey ya might get lucky and they’ll open it and show you how....
Just sayin,

The whole concept is bad. A padlock that needs a battery? What happens when the batteries dies?
Sorry you wasted your money. One more "high-tech" piece of junk on the market.

Now that is hysterical and most probably true. Maybe I give it a try.
