After driving for what seemed like endless miles of backcountry roads and finally a dirt road to no where there was this old plantation home. It was like going back in time. We were the only people there and it felt like we were walking among the spirits of the past. Can you hear them?

Looks like a B&B we stayed at a few years ago. Nice!

Yes, after your explanation of the journey. What would I give for that kind of privacy? Great pic.

I like it as shot. The trees add so much to this. Thank you for sharing

No spirits, but nice photo. I like the composition, putting the house in its setting, thus giving an overall feeling of the situation, one that a closer view of the house wouldn’t give. Do you also have closer photos? I’d be interested in seeing them, too.

The image has not been cropped. I have played with cropping the image and I too like more of the House. The way presented was trying to show the feel for the live oaks and Spanish moss. When I print the image for myself I’ll take your suggestion and crop to show more of the house. Thanks for your suggestion.

The photo as is shows the house as one part of several that create a beautiful setting or scene. It’s like one just rounded a curve in the road or path and was presented with this scene. A picture of just the house would be fine, but would look as more a documentary shot rather than the story telling scene you’ve shown in this image. Just my opinion . . .

Very nice picture. Do you know how old the house is?

It looks more modern than pre-Civil War. Also, looks like they may have done some remodeling.
Regardless if age it is a good pic.

Reminds me of the Louisiana Mississippi River Road plantations on our anniversary!

Very good shot hdp. I also agree with the crop suggestion. If you ever get the chance to visit Louisiana there are many plantation homes located along the Mississippi River. Visit my Flickr page link below and view a handful of them that I photographed in the past.

I like the broader view to show the setting. A second photo of the house would be nice though. Beautiful old place.
