Try reading what comes after then after the title Chit-Chat, assuming that you can read!

Relax. This is UHH, where aggression seems to be encouraged.

Are they saying "remove" them? Or - conform to the rules and use a smaller flag?

That's the tricky part. The flag they're flying must be removed. For some, that translates into a city forcing a business to stop flying the American flag. What the city really wants is for the business to fly a flag that conforms to the city ordinance. The city is not anti American flag. I like to see a flag flapping around on a windy day. These big flags hardly move.

First of all, this General Chitchat, not about photography. Secondly, your comment was rude, insulting and not within the rules for UHH. If you want to insult people, go to the Attic. You would fit in there.

My objection to this story is not the flying of a flag that's the wrong size, but the view of the bureaucrats that a flag has to conform to a specific size. Or, for that matter, that anything has to conform to their view of the world.

I lived in a town that had a sign bylaw. Any sign directing you to a business had to be no more than 6" x 24" and written in yellow letters on a green background and there couldn't be more than 10 of them in the town. When driving at 30 mph the signs were completely unreadable.

I understand that some things have to be regulated for public safety and things like that and that a flag has to be small enough that when mounted on the pole it doesn't hit the ground, but useless regulations on style bug me.

Diversity, not conformity.

I must say that I agree with you, Whole-heartedly. I very often disagree with Democrats and very often disagree with republicans, and will retain my right to do so. I almost always disagree with those who live and preach GROUP-THINK.

I like to see a flag flapping around on a windy day. These big flags hardly move. QUOTE

Many of the car dealerships in north Texas fly very large flag on the order of that flag in NC. The wind is normally medium (opinion) in north central Texas and the flags are made of a material that is very lightweight. The flags therefore wave nicely and all of them are lit at night so they can be seen whenever anyone drives past.
If the NC flags just hang limp then I would be perturbed at seeing that. When flags are designed correctly using a light weight material, and flown correctly, like the car dealerships in Texas, then they look wonderful.
In my experience, the flags at the dealers do not appear to wear out rapidly even tho they seem to be lightweight as they wave at even a light breeze.

Is that possible? I mean a light breeze in north Texas??

Time to find another hobby and new reading glasses. Photography and your medication aren't cutting it.
