Annoying Problem with Elements 2018

I hope some UHHers can help me with this problem. I have been using Elements since Version 1, having skipped three or four versions along the way. With 2018 a couple of very annoying problems have developed since the original install and have continued despite reinstalls:

Upon every launch of 2018, I get two pop-up messages: "Elements XXL cannot find the Elements window" (after purchasing and trying to install XXL) and "There is a problem with Generator. Please quit Photoshop and try again. If the problem persists, remove any third-party plug-ins or try reinstalling Photoshop."

Despite reinstalls and removing plug-ins, the results are the same.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Is the problem with Photoshop Elements? Or is the problem with Elements XXL?

It has to be Elements because it does the same even if XXL is deleted from it.

I would begin a "chat" with Adobe to see if they can help. It's most likely a minor problem with your video card drivers or something like that.

Photoshop Elements wouldn't know that XXL existed until XXL was installed. Somewhere XXL installed a "trigger" that PSE has to read as part of the loading sequence.

How are you deleting XXL?

Maybe you have to use the Windows uninstall and also use Explorer to delete the folder structure before you re-install.
