Slap-over ads?

Am I the only one who is now receiving, almost daily, slap over ads here? You know, the ones the slap over the top of what you WANT to do, but can't until you either do what they want you to do, or "x" click it off, if one is there? Two already this morning, before I could even read anything here.

And there it happens again. I just clicked on "Post processing apps or programs". Did I get to read it? No. An allegedly Canon help product, courtesy of "PackTrackPlusPromos".
This has to stop. But how? And am I the only one?

I'm using Blur, I see hardly any junk.
Did you go somewhere that installed a module for ads?
Do you mean pop-ups or pop-unders?
Firefox has an setting to block pop-ups, which I also have turned on.

In fact, I did just the opposite yesterday. It took a while, but I learned how to remove Yahoo as the actual search engine and replace it with the original Chrome search engine. Somehow, on this new computer, Yahoo was always the search engine I was forced to use when, by my doing a simple search, I expected Google search, but was forced to Yahoo. That is now over, hopefully for good.

I hate stuff that installs or sets things like that!
Companies pay for the ability to have certain things set as default.
One needs to read the entire screen when installing software as options to install crap may be automatically selected.

Thank you for asking. I've googled on how to remove PackTrackPlusPromos, for it has taken over a great deal. I think, perhaps, I may have solved it by removing many Many extensions. If this does not solve the problem, or if I have another slap over ad here, I'll capture a screen shot and send it to you via PM. Thanks for asking.

Sounds like it's caused by PackTrackPlus. (Adware)

I call them slap overs, for that is exactly what they do. Uninvited, they slap over the top of what I really want, and sit right over what I want to do. Keeping my fingers crossed, I found them in the Extension of Google. I've turned them off, of course, so now time will tell if they actually not stops them. Curious, how did they become an extension in the first place. Ideas?

Interesting you would say that. For I did not, as a matter of fact, install PackTrackPlus.
When I found that Google Chrome would only use Yahoo! as the search engine, I switched over to Firefox. I used it for several day, but also notice that I saw a lot of 'white screens' in search mode. Some of those white screens would never end. That was a waste, so I switched back to Google Chrome.
It was there, that I experience those PackTrackPlus, on here UHH, as well as many other web usage. Hence, yesterday afternoon, I did a search for specific PackTrackPlus, and read that I could block them by going to my Extensions. If it were there, I would delete it, which I did. I also found it interesting that the trip to Extension was my first visit. I never, intentionally, made any change to "allow" invasions such as PackTrackPlus. Not a fun experience, but that is the sequence that perhaps set the stage.

Where did you get Firefox? Possibly not from Mozilla.org?
Many other places that "provide stuff" can "provide" it with crap attached or installed. Always go to the OEM site.
(I've been using Firefox exclusively for many, many years. To me it provides more control over browser functions.)

Of course I downloaded Firefox from Mozilla.org. I'm a major supporter of Mozilla.org. I use Thunderbird exclusively as my e-mail client.
